"Excellent week in a beautiful spot!"
We stayed for a week in the house - the weather wasn't fantastic, but it didn't really detract from a great week as the house was so cosy and there is loads to see and do in the area. Andre… More

We were so disappointed that there was nowhere to sit outside. There is a courtyard but it has extremely high walls and was a bit scruffy, the table and chairs were dirty. We couldn't sit outsi… More
Thank you for your feedback, we take all comments seriously as a responsible owner. I will address your points as until your feedback, we'd been listed Excellent, so am somewhat dissappointed myself?
I think the property details, photo's, inventory of facilities reflect the property as it is. Apologies with your disappointment of no freezer at the property, but we haven't listed one, the current fridge was with the original house we purchased a year ago and see no need to replace at this point as not broken to coin a phrase ... The house on purchase in June 2013 has had a complete overhaul of redecoration both inside and out, Plumbing and heating also. (if a problem, we would expect you to contact us) With this in mind we are a little surprised with your 'scruffy courtyard' comment, personally we love our private little sun trap and were confused with your comment of 'nowhere to sit'? There is a set of vintage filigree chairs, table and bench which are cleaned every changeover and a set of seat pads for our visitors comfort provided, located in the shed. Apologies the airing cupboard is actually just a housing for the water tank, which we will perhaps lock in future to save confusion, we do however provide an airer for the drying of clothes, again located in the shed. The public house over the road is between tenants, we in the village look forward to it's reopen but unfortunatley I cannot control and we do state on our page and information file at the house excellent pubs/restaurants nearby. The Laughing Monk being a few doors away you mention is a well respected, highly commended local establishment, serving local produce, wines and spirits - A menu is posted daily for visitors to see before entering with dishes and prices. we also recommend their 'Early Bird' reduced menu, something for all budgets and very family friendly. Despite your concerns, we hope you enjoyed your overall holiday..

"Beautifully restored house in great location"
My husband and I stayed at this property at the end of September, with his parents and sister. We were very impressed with the house, well restored with some nice touches and everything you would need. We arrived to a table laid with scones, jam and fresh clotted cream which was very welcoming.
It is in a quiet village called Strete which is well positioned for exploring the coast and nearby towns, Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Totnes, all worth a visit. Unfortunately it rained quite a lot when we were there but we still found plenty to do.
We had a meal at the local restaurant 'The Laughing Monk' which was good and the pub opposite was handy for a drink.
There were 5 of us and plenty of room. The main room was a nice size double, there is one twin room and the 3rd has a small double (could be a little tight if you are 3 couples).
The parking is just down the road so it's best to unload the car outside the house and then park up.

"Beautiful home and great location"
Walpole House was such a lovely home, simply but beautifully decorated, with everything we needed. There was useful information, the community shop was opposite the house, pub a few doors down and it was a 5 minute drive to a couple of beaches. Just wished we could have stayed longer to explore more of the area!

Given your wealth of reviews we are very pleased to have been awarded a top rating by you, so Thank you. We opened our doors only this season and inherited fridge,it is something we will look into. Through traffic is pretty consistent to what you experienced, though we wouldn't swap this for the breath taking view we are lucky to have. We look forward to seeing you again.. and thanks again..
