About this location
The Lake Maggiore region

It offers to those that arrive on its lake shores the possibility to visit its historical center with its shops and boutiques. You can enjoy its main square whilst sitting in one of its numerous outside cafe's. You will enjoy taking the extremely scenic lake side stroll along its famous promenade while admiring the fabulous architecture of the grand lake front hotels. Set back from the lake just behind the town you can explore the walking paths that take you through the woods and up to the higher local villages which lie on the side of Stresa's Mountain the Mt 'Mottarone' (1492m). Stresa guarantees its holiday makers a unique stay full of emotions.
Every Friday morning the town holds a market and during the high season summer months the town also organizes markets along the lake front specializing in local crafts and foods.
The 'Rio Molino' apartments are an ideal base for those of you wanting to visit, not only the Borromean islands but also the surrounding valley's ( Val d'Ossola and Val Vigezzo ). Lake Orta and the island of San Giulio are also close by. Switzerland and its beautiful lake side towns of Ascona and Locarno are a short ferry or car journey away and some of the highest mountain summits like the Mt Rosa and the Cervino are also close at hand. There are plenty of museums, churches , historical villa's and gardens one can visit in the local area. For the shopaholics amongst you there are numerous 'outlets' near by like the 'casalingo' of Omegna, Foxtown, Serravalle, Vicolungo and not to mention obviously the city of Milan ,the shoppers paradise!

"Comfortable and quiet rooms in this attractive area"
We stopped off in Stresa for a few nights on our way home to England from Southern Italy.
The Genziana Family Room is in the higher part of the attractive town of Stresa, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, 10-15 minutes walk from the station and 20-25 minutes walk from the landing stage on the lake.
This newly decorated apartment was simply but attractively furnished and was very adequate for our needs as a family (2 adults and 3 children). It is part of a small block on a quiet street. It's handy for getting to the key places in Stresa, but might present a challenge if you're not as mobile as you might like. We were met by a pleasant member of the family who owns this property and felt very welcome.
There are a number of activities to get into when in Stresa. We certainly enjoyed the cable car up to The Mottarone (the local mountain) with its stupendous views. There are plenty of options on the Lake as you might expect.
We travelled back to England by train which is fairly simple in the day, travelling via Lausanne/Geneva and Paris to London.
All in all, much recommended
