About the home

This is a lovely 2 bedroom apartment in Campino, near Stresa, with absolutely wonderful lake views. Guests staying at the property are treated to incredible views of Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. It will be hard to drag yourself away from the terrace and gardens to go and do some sightseeing, however, when you do, you will find that the property is ideally placed for exploring the area. Boats leave from the lakeside at Baveno and Stresa taking you all around the lake. Both are just a 5 minutes drive away, or can be reached by foot in approximately 30 minutes. There are also 2 restaurants within walking distance, both of which also have wonderful lake views!

Inside the property is set over one level. Completely refubished at the end of 2011, it is decorated in neutral tones, but the owner has cleverly added wonderful splashes of colour through the fixtures and fittings. There is a large open plan kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is brand new and is well equipped with everything guests could want or need during their stay. A breakfast bar is a perfect place for breakfast whilst there is also a dining table seating six for more formal dining. Adjacent to this room is a living area with comfortable corner sofa and TV, perfect for a lazy evening in! There are two bedrooms, both with double beds. The master bedroom is a good size with plenty of wardrobe space and a chest of drawers. And finally, there is a bathroom with shower, bidet, sink and toilet.

Outside, the property has a large terrace with phenomenal lake views. Steps lead down from the terrace to a small garden. The lawn is ideal for children to play on, or for adults to spend long, lazy days in the sunshine! Seating including dining table and chairs, deckchairs and loungers are provided.

Lake Maggiore offers visitors a wealth of activities and sights to enjoy whatever your age. With plenty to do during your Lake Maggiore holiday, whether you're six or sixty six, it's a great all year round holiday destination in a stunning part of Italy. With great beaches to relax on in the Summer, wonderful villages to visit in the Spring, skiing to enjoy in the Winter and some stunning walks in the Autumn, Lago Maggiore really does cater for all tastes! The property is perfectly placed for visiting Luino, Cannobio, Cannero, Stresa, Ascona & the Borromean Islands. A great day out is the Lago Maggiore Express by boat up to Ascona & Locarno where you take the '100 Valley' train into the Swiss Alps then connect to Stresa. Also in Switzerland, Valle Verzasca & Valle Maggia are worth a visit. You can visit the Verzasca Dam which features in Goldeneye. The river is fantastic to swim in & the setting is idyllic. Como is easily visited in a day. Lake Como enjoys its own ferry service and features Bellagio, Varenna & Villa Carlotta. In the other direction, Orta San Giulio is definitely one of the prettiest villages on any of the Italian Lakes. If you wanted to see another lake, then head to Lugano & the Monte Salvatore funicular. There is a beautiful lido here too which I would recommend. The brand new lido in Locarno (opened Oct 2009) is also superb. Or you can catch a train into Milan city centre & go shopping. It's a short metro train ride to Santa Maria delle Grazie & Da Vinci's painting of 'The Last Supper.' Or if you're more of a sports fan, you can take a tour of San Siro stadium. For cheaper shopping, Luino boasts the biggest weekly market in Europe. Or you could have a look at Foxtown, an outlet centre where the most famous international brands offer their products at factory prices. The nearest beaches are no more than 5 mins away. Nearby Baveno has a fantastic lido which is extremely popular. The Mottarone is ideal for hiking. The scenery and nature is fabulous. Most of the nearby mountains also have tracks for mountain bikes. The area offers plenty to do for children - Swissminiatur, a Swiss chocolate factory and the European Museum of Transport. Monte Tamaro is a great place with an alpine bob sleigh and the longest flying fox in Switzerland! Or you could try your hand at falconry or visit a safari park! In the summer, there is a huge waterpark near Milan. Or nearer to the property, there is a great adventure park near Baveno with a tree top assault course. The Stresa area

There are 2 restaurants within 100 yards of the property. There is also a small shop in the village of Campino. The elegant lakeside town of Stresa is just a few minutes away by car where there are a wide selection of shops and restaurants. Baveno is just a few minutes by car in the other direction (or a 30 minute walk downhilll). Baveno has a lovely lakeside area and boats leave regularly to the Borromean Islands. It also has a handy supermarket.

Fly to Milan Malpensa: Approx 45 minutes from the property. See Easyjet for flights from LGW. Fly to Milan Bergamo: Transfer time approx 120 mins. Fly to Milan Linate: Transfer time approx 120 mins. A train service runs from Milan Central Station which will take you to Stresa in 1-2 hours depending on the day and time of travel. A taxi service can then take you from Stresa to the apartment.
