The Central England / Cotswolds / Warwickshire region

Stratford upon Avon is a delightful town, internationally famous as the birthplace of William Shakespeare and home to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.
It attracts a substantial number of visitors who come to enjoy its rich and diverse culture. Stratford is a prosperous riverside market town, providing a wide range of national and local shops, fine restaurants and inns, and excellent sporting and recreational amenities. These include golf courses, swimming pool and leisure centre, National Hunt racecourse, the nearby north Cotswold Hills and the benefits of the River Avon.
The Stratford upon Avon / Stratford Town Centre area
Whatever takes your fancy, a short break in Shakespeare Country will make you feel rejuvenated and refreshed. Stratford-upon-Avon, a town synonymous with William Shakespeare introduces you to a market town with more than 800 years of history containing not only many buildings that survive to-day and would have been familiar to Shakespeare, but also a thriving community offering a wide variety of leisure and shopping experiences.
Visitors to Stratford-upon-Avon can see all of the original five Shakespeare houses that are carefully restored and managed by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust so visitors can experience how they lived in the 1600's. The three houses in town (The Birthplace, Nash's House/New Place and Hall's Croft) are all within walking distance and there is a touring bus service that will take visitors around town and to the five Shakespeare houses.:
Shakespeare's Birthplace - where William was born and lived
Anne Hathaway's Cottage - family home of Shakespeare’s wife
Mary Arden's House - childhood home of Shakespeare's mother
Hall's Croft - home of the husband of Shakespeare’s daughter Susanna
Nash's House & New Place - Shakespeare’s family home from 1597 until 1616
The RSC theatre has a very busy schedule for 2010 offering the following Shakespeare plays: Anthony and Cleopatra, As You Like It, The Comedy of Errors, Hamlet, Julius Caesar, King Lear, Morte D'Arthur, Romeo and Juliet, The Winter's Tale.
Of course Stratford is also the ideal fun or family destination with the upcoming: Stratford Fringe (7th - 12th June) , the Stratford River Festival (July 3rd - 4th), The CLA Game Fare at Alcester (23rd - 25th July...5 miles), the world famous Global Gathering (30th - 31st July), plus the annual Bulldog Bash (12th - 15th August).

We booked this apartment between Christmas and New Year as a base to explore Startford on Avon and were not disappointed. The location is ideal as it is just a few minutes walk to the centre of town - shops, restaurants and Shakespeare attractions. The apartment was very comfortable with good facilties, nicely presented and in a well lit, nice area of town. The swimming pool was a bonus and a great attraction for our 11 year old daughter (please be aware that the lock on the female changing room sticks!) Having a parking space is good too and we did not use the car at all during our visit. The booking process was simple and Glen provided lots of helpful information about the area. If you are visiting Stratford then this is a great, cost effective alternative to an hotel with the added freedom to do your own thing and have lots of space. I am sure we will return in the future. |

Lovely, luxurious apartment close to the centre of Stratford-upon-Avon. I stayed for a weekend get-together with a couple of friends - visiting the theatre and taking in the sights of the town. I... more |

We spent a week at this apartment and couldn't fault it. The property is without a doubt first class and is nice and quiet despite being on the main road – we had no trouble with traffic noise. We used it as a base to see the Cotswolds and Stratford itself and it was a pleasant drive to some of the most beautiful villages we have ever seen – try some of the smaller ones like Broadway and Bibury but don't miss bigger places like Chipping Campden. Take your camera! Whilst the kitchen has everything you need we only used it for breakfast as it was only a slow 5 minute stroll into Stratford itself with a myriad of restaurants and pubs catering for all tastes and prices. Thought Lambs was best for 'posh'. You have your own parking space at the apartment which is a godsend so you can leave the car and walk into town. Would we recommend Windsor Court? Without any doubt at all, perfect for a week-end or longer. |
Guestbook for Windsor Court
The location is absolutely fantastic and we just loved the attention to detail, Jim, Jill and friends.
The pool was glorious and sumptuously warm, the children just wanted to stay there the whole time. The Brundle Family.
The apartment is truly gadget heaven! The music system is to die for and I loved watching the streaming Films.

The location is excellent, the decor stunning, the pictures do not do it justice. We have already booked to return next year. Amie Little
The breakfast box we ordered was plentiful and really good quality....as seasoned travellers we just loved the apartment, comfy, central and extremely well equipped. Highly recommended. Steve & Sarah
