About the home

McHugh Cottage is a romantic Highland holiday retreat. Situated in the historic village of St Catherines on the shores of Loch Fyne, Argyll, this traditional cottage has been beautifully restored and stylishly and comfortably furnished. The sitting room has a lovely open fire for cosy evenings. The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms (one double on the first floor and one small twin on the ground floor), but can be booked with adjacent Loudon Cottage to accommodate larger parties of up to eight.
It’s a magical location. The cottage is set in 440 acres of natural woodland, which has heritage status. Behind the cottage is Tom Na Sgeulachd, which is covered in bluebells in the spring. A small burn runs down to the loch below the cottages. If you’re after tranquillity and peace then this is the place to come. And it’s only six miles from the main A83 trunk road from Glasgow.

The Strachur area

Strachur is a sleepy village on the north east shore of Loch Fyne, Argyll. There’s plenty to see and do here. Play tennis, fish or boat on the loch, visit Glensluain Pottery, look around the Smiddy Museum or enjoy something to eat in the pubs and cafes. The world-famous Loch Fyne Oyster Bar is just down the road. There are loads of forest trails nearby to go walking or mountain biking and you might even find a ceilidh is on at the village hall. Strachur is well placed for exploring Argyll. Drive to Tighnabruaich via the scenic Kyles of Bute or visit Inveraray with its fairytale castle, bell tower and jail museum.
