The East Anglia region
Suffolk is a non-metropolitan county of historic origin in East Anglia, England. It has borders with Norfolk to the north, Cambridgeshire to the west and Essex to the south
The town of Newmarket is the headquarters of British horseracing - home to the largest cluster of training yards in the country, many key horse racing organisations, including the National Stud, and Newmarket Racecourse. Tattersalls bloodstock auctioneers and the National Horseracing Museum are also in the town
Speedway racing has been staged in Suffolk since at least the 1950s, following the construction of the Foxhall Stadium, just outside Ipswich, home of the Ipswich Witches. The Witches are currently members of the Speedway Premier League.
•Mendlesham village has a good general grocery store and bakery which is open "all hours". There are 2 pubs in the village, one dating back to 1520 which serves both lunch and dinner and the other which also incorporates the local post office! 2 hair salons and a fish n chips shop complete the retail picture.
•Further afield are the picturesque villages of Lavenham, Woolpit and Woodbridge whilst Snape, Aldeburgh, Dunwich and Southwold are the gems of the Suffolk coast and well worth a visit.
•The Cathedral city of Norwich lies 45 mins to the North, the county town Ipswich 15 mins to the South and ancient Bury St Edmunds 25 mins to the West.
