The Central England/Cotswolds region
The Cotswolds is situated in the heart of England and is regarded as an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has many small villages and hamlets made from locally quarried Cotswold stone, which is honey coloured. Amoung the rolling countryside there are drystone walls many of them being built in the 18th and 19th century. There are local pubs and inns which makes the region one of the most idealic holiday locations in the United Kingdom.
The wealth of the area, during the 13th to 15th centuries was based on the wool trade, which enabled traders to leave their mark by building large estates and manor houses and to this day the site of sheep and cattle on the hillsides is one of the clssic images of the Cotswolds.
Bourton-on-the-Water, Moreton-in-Marsh, Burford, Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden and Stratford-upon-Avon, are some of the towns in the Cotswolds and are of outstanding historical importance.
Stow on the Wold
Lower Swell has a 17th Century pub, with log fires in the winter and excellent home cooked food with local real ale brewed a mile away at Donnington Brewery. It is surrounded by beautiful walks to other villages and cycle rides.
I mile up the hill is Stow-on-the-Wold, which has a selection of places to eat and drink, plus tea rooms and many shops of interest. There is also a supermarket, delicatessens and family butchers. Every Thursday during the summer season there is a farmer's market in the square. A short distance away in Moreton-in-Marsh there is a large market every Tuesday all year round. There is a tourist information centre in Stow-on-the-Wold which gives all the information you would need for local activities and attractions.
Festivals/activities/places of interest
There are 3 golf courses, the nearest being Naunton, then Burford and Chipping Norton
There is the Cotswold water park near Cirencester, with waterports.

"Beautiful House, Picturesque Location & Spacious Accomodation"
We stayed here for my parents Birthday and Bank Holiday long weekend rest away from it all.
The location is perfect for exploring, the size of the house and its rooms were perfect for our group. The local pub (Golden Ball) serves lovely food just a 200 yard walk down the road or the nearby villages offer all the supermarkets, restaurants or takeaways you may desire.
We can recommend Breakfast at the Cricket museum, Stow on the Wold high street or the Chinese takeaway and fish and chips in Bourton on the water.
I would not recommend this to single sex groups or people looking for a city break.
This is perfect for a family get together, Retreat or exploring the beautiful surrounding Cotswold villages.
