Enter to the wonderfully homely open plan living area, with sitting area overlooking the stream and a country-style kitchen set apart with a large pine table and chairs. This superb Lake District holiday cottage in Crosthwaite has a stunning rural location, off the beaten track but surprisingly convenient and easily accessible from the M6. You'll find a renowned and award-winning Lake District country pub, The Punchbowl, in Crosthwaite village, as well as a delightful old church to explore.

Crosthwaite is a small community in the north of the Lyth Valley, between Kendal and Lake Windermere. The area is renowned for its lush green landscapes, wonderful walks, peaceful country lanes, pretty woodlands and prized damson harvest - which gives rise to stunning damson blossom in spring.

Only a ten minute drive takes you past the Windermere Golf Club to bustling Bowness village on Lake Windermere's eastern shore, where you'll find sophisticated shops, endless boating activities, Lake District family attractions such as the World of Beatrix Potter, and a range of options for evening entertainment. From traditional Lakeland pubs to trendy tapas bars, cinema, theatre and nightclub, there's something for every taste.

From Bowness Bay, you can hop on a Windermere Lake Cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside - a great way to explore while soaking up the scenery. If you'd prefer to explore the wider Lake District by car, perhaps to seek out walking routes, the A591 leads easily from Windermere village to Ambleside, Rydal Water, historic Grasmere and beyond. With stress-free journeys and easy navigation from your rural Lake District holiday cottage, the highlights of the Lake District National Park are within easy reach.

The Heart of England/Peak District

The Lake District is a place like no other. No other region in the world is so packed with such varied and stunning scenery in such as small area– and it's all on your doorstep with easy access by car or rail. The choice of outdoor activities is endless with some of the best walks, climbs and bike rides in the world, beautiful lakes for sailing, canoeing, windsurfing or just a cruise one of several ferry services. The National Park itself encompasses soaring mountains, native woodland (you might see a red squirrel!), lush meadows and of course the many famous lakes themselves. Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, Ruskin and many more have been inspired by the Lake District and made their homes here. The homes are still here and open to visit and they too are surrounded by majestic mountain panoramas. There also some surprises – kids will love attractions such as the giant i-max screen at Rheged Visitor Centre, Go Ape aerial activities in Grizedale Forest and The World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness. And where better to stay than a classic Lakeland Cottage. Lakelovers have over 400 properties in prime locations within the heart of the Lakes and we specialise in hand-picked properties that we know you'll love. Whether you want a grand property for a family gathering or a cosy bolt hole for two we can't wait to show you what we have for you to choose from. We know The Lakes inside out and we are just a click of a mouse or a phone call away.
