The Highlands region
Stonehaven, the main county town of Kincardine and the Mearns plays an important role in attracting visitors to the Aberdeenshire region of Scotland. Situated by the sea, 15 mile south of Aberdeen, Stonehaven is fast becoming one of Scotland's most popular coastal towns.
Originally a fishing village built around the High Street, Stonehaven has grown to a population of around 10,000 offering several unique visitor attractions.
These including the magnificent fortress of Dunnottar Castle, steeped in history with links back to William Wallace, Mary Queen of Scots and Oliver Cromwell and the Tolbooth Museum where you can explore the early history of Stonehaven and view an exhibition of the fascinating discovery of a 420 million year old fossil on the shores of the old fishing village of Cowie in January 2004 and the much loved Art Deco style olympic size heated Open Air Pool.
Stonehaven has achieved world wide recognition for the unique Fireballs Festival which brings each year to close as thousands of people celebrate Hogmanay. Stonehaven is an ideal location for exploring North East Scotland's Coastal Trail which winds it's way from St. Cyrus in the South through Stonehaven and Aberdeen to Kinnaird Head then round to Findhorn. The coast of the Grampian Highlands runs for more than 150 miles. Cliffs, coves, quaysides, beaches and bays are all approachable and provide endless opportunities for exploration.
Stonehaven is special and the friendliness of the local people, it's natural beauty, history and sense of fun will haunt you forever.

Leisure facilities are well catered for with Stonehaven Leisure Centre, a seasonal outdoor pool and a putting green. There is also an 18 hole golf course on the nearby cliff tops and the sheltered harbour is ideal for yachting.
The town, once a substantial fishing port, still retains much of its historic interest and the ruin of Dunnottar Castle to the south is a great tourist attraction. Regular bus and rail links also serve the town. Stonehaven is a beautiful coastal town, amd this property has uninterrupted panoramic views over Stonehaven Bay and Town.
