(Also see the summary) green garden, tall trees, private dock, wine cellar and throw swing. Both cabins have balconies facing the water and the bridge. There is a cabin with shower and washing machine. In the center of the plot is the main house were we stay ourselves (me and my girlfriend).

The main house, at 64 sqm, can also be rented out when we are not there. There is a large kitchen, toilet (going to get to without going into the building), large patio with afternoon sun and a veranda. All four cabins have great views of the Lake and a breathtaking sunrise. The site is located on the South-Eastern part of the island where you will also find a big bridge and trash cans. There are no snakes on the island, which some might think is nice to know. On the other hand, there is a lot of squirrels and birds-white-tailed eagle, among others. Fishing is one of the best and it is possible both to fish from the pier and from a boat that belong to the site. In the main cabin: fireplace, large oven, dishwasher, large fridge and freezer etc. to borrow if needed. In the smaller cabins: small stove and oven, microwave, tv, dvd and in one cottage there is a small refrigerator and freezer. The wine cellar fridge works great as well. Drinking water we get on the other side of a deserted plot (the neighbor to the North)-the pump is accessible also via the main road on the island (a wider path), the water is tested every year and always tastes divine. The water to the large-scale, shower and to the bathroom you can also drink and is taken up with a pump that turns on when you turn on the faucet. There is excellent public transport out to the Munsö, via Ekerö (bus last bit goes all the way down to the dock 4-5 times a day, from early morning to late night, even on weekends). From Sluts bridge it takes the late max 15 min by boat (depending on which boat we take). If you drive there are two fenced car sites and a lot of parking outside the high fence and the locked gate. We have five boats - a nice camping boat 75 hp motor, a big boat that takes 10 persons with a 50 HP engine, a large boat with cabin that can be launched if necessary, a smaller boat for 5 persons with a motor at 4 HP and a larger plastic-live with a 20 HP engine. One of the boats is always available for transportation back and forth to the main land Munsö, Ekerö via Sluts bridge, or for a ride out on Björkfjärden, cool blue lagoon, the Islands and beaches nearby, or for a fishing trip (we also have an electric motor for quieter and quieter trips). In addition to our boats there is a big boat with a captain which can be ordered when to get to or from the Statement. It costs $ 7 round trip but the Captain can take more if he has to wait or whether to make the order less than 24 hours before departure. We have lots of garden games.

Stockholm

Short island history (just automatically translated)

Alholmen has been inhabited since the 1600s. Through the ages, the island has supplied a farmer and a fisherman. In the past, life was hard, the families were large and livelihoods from agriculture and water was not always sufficient to survive the winter. To supplement their incomes took the island's inhabitants moonlighting as day laborers at brick works, including the Final and in mainland farmers and dealt boat transfers to the local population. There is a description of the island's history as written by islander Edvard Berg. It can be purchased from the cashier.

Active farming conducted on Alholmen until the end of the 40th century. You can still see remnants of the old farm; Fields, ditches and stone walls. Mangårdbyggnaden (blank 1:10), dating from the 1700s remain as granary (1:8), Smithy (1:9) and part of the house (1:51). There are also some old croft.

In the early 50's dismembered Alholmen for summer cottage settlements. The new owners formed Alholmens Economic land owners association in which virtually all land owners are members. The first task of the association was to arrange passbåtstrafik. It was not so common with their own boats, especially with the engine, so in the fifties was passbåtstrafiken extensive. Another of the association's first tasks was to try to get electricity to the island, which succeeded in the 60s. Furthermore, the jetties were built at the beginning of the end the association.

Fishing regulations in Mälaren and around Alholmen

Fishing with hand tools is freely throughout Mälaren. As handheld includes for example spinning rod, jigging and bait fishing. If it conjures, that sounds baits somehow drop after a boat, there are special rules. Trolling is allowed only in certain places and with a special license.

Property owners on Alholmen owns, through plot owners' association, fishing waters around the island, 300 meters out, which does not "collide" with one another island exception is water outside the plots;

1:2, 1:99 and 1:100, which is owned directly by these plots. On our water, you add grid under

the rules of Lake Mälaren.

"Beautiful Location, Peaceful, Great Hosts, Easy Access to Stockholm"

We stayed in the two holiday cabins for several days in June. My son and his partner in the larger one whilst I had the smaller one closest to the lake. The accommodation is cosy, well furnished and comfortable. The scenery and ever-changing light and moods of the lake were stunning. Our hosts Anders & Åsa were most welcoming and as they were there during our stay were more than willing to run us back and forth to the main land in their boat. Although life on the island feels quite removed from the hectic life in the city it is still easily accessible and we were able to spend a great day in Stockholm sight-seeing. We also visited the lovely town of Mariefred on our return journey which is not too far from this destination.

This is a holiday for those who want to get away to a rural retreat. There is no running water in the cabins but this is part of the charm of this type of holiday. There is a shower cabin and washing machine close to the two holiday cabins and there is a dishwasher and toilet in the main house, plus fridge in a the larger cabin. Both cabins had outside seating areas and sitting outside looking at the lake was very relaxing as was sitting at the end of the private jetty. We also enjoyed having BBQ's.

Exploring the island is interesting as there are a number of properties tucked away. Anders & Åsa's home and the cabins are situated in a lovely position with the lake spread out in front. I would certainly recommend this holiday rental to friends and hope to visit again one day.
