The Central Scotland/Edinburgh region
Doune is ideally situated to reach the cities of Stirling (10 mins), Edinburgh (40 mins) or Glasgow (40 mins) which offer year round visitor attractions such as the Edinburgh Festival and the New Year Hogmanay celebrations.
The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park is within a few minutes' drive and the M9 at Stirling offers easy access to the more northern regions of Scotland.
Stirling area
Stirling is a small city with great deal of history and many visitor attractions including the famous castle, Wallace Monument and museums and galleries. There is good quality shopping in the city centre, a range of bars and restaurants and a multiplex cinema
To the north and west, the Trossachs offer classic highland scenery ideal for walking, cycling, watersports and sightseeing. Within 10 minutes of the house there is Doune Castle, Blair Drummond Safari Park and Briarlands Farm which all offer great family entertainment. The castle was famously the location for the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
