The Central Scotland / Strathclyde / Stirling County region

Stirling does not stand alone; other areas of historic interest are on the doorstep: just a five minute's walk away to the charming village and local pubs of Cambusbarron and five minutes in the opposite direction for Cambuskenneth and its famous Abbey. Wallace’s Monument is a 2 min drive; on the way, stop off and visit the Old Stirling Bridge or the site of the famous Battle of Bannockburn.
The surrounding countryside is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts: walking, cycling and paragliding are all on offer on the nearby Ochil Hills. Slightly further away are The Trossachs, Callander, Loch Lomond National Park, Glasgow and Edinburgh providing, therefore, the ideal central touring base for your holiday.
The Stirling / Kings Park, Stirling area
The Courtyard is at the very heart of Stirling City centre; a two minute walk to all the attractions within the historic City: the magnificent Castle and rich Scottish heritage centre, the Old City Jail, the Tollbooth, a modern shopping centre, small quaint arcades and several supermarkets.
The historical Bannockburn Heritage Centre is only a 20-minute walk from the city centre and there is also a good selection of both modern and traditional pubs and restaurants in the area. Nick Nairn’s famous cookery school is also a mere 20 minute drive away in nearby Port of Menteith.
Golf being available at every turn: Kings Park’s own course and at least another five within Falkirk district, a 15 min drive away. Slightly further afield are the world famous Gleneagles and St Andrew’s Old Course.
Transport within the area offers excellent links to all areas; Edinburgh and Glasgow (airports) are within one hour’s drive. Stirling also has a good bus/rail network and motorways heading both North, further through Scotland, and South towards England and Wales.

The house was fantastic just like description in good location with very friendly host.
We had brilliant holiday there.
Tinglin Liu , Edinburgh February 2009
"We travelled to scotland in a group of 7 which included 4 adults and 3 children. our hosts sent us plenty of information regarding directions and how to acquire the key to the property in case they were not there to greet us. Their hospitality and service was outstanding at all times with a very friendly manner. The hosts also supplied age appropriate indoor and outdoor toys which was very much appreciated. The accommodation was to an extremely high standard and very clean throughout. we would definitely reccommend this property to friends. Local amenities just a short walk including shops, bars and restaurants.
Visit Tillicoultry for a High Tea at Harviestoun hotel.Very nice food and cheap! Dollar Glen is a lovely walk. Wear good walking shoes! Stirling Town Jail and Ghostwalk is a must! Lots of tourist information is available at the property.
We had trouble fitting it all into one week so would reccommend a longer stay."

"This was our first visit to Scotland and it got off to a great start in the historic city of Stirling. The Courtyard Apartment was recently opened for guests and proved to be ideally situated for visiting the magnificent Castle and all the other attractions in the City. It was also an ideal spot for travelling further afield to see Edinburgh, Glasgow, The Falkirk Wheel and the Trossachs.
The Apartment itself was newly equipped with all modern conveniences, including a washing machine which made our stay a lot easier. The toys provided for the grandchildren proved a great hit and saved us transport space. The Hosts, Robbie and KIrsten, were most informative about the area and made us feel very welcome. We will not hesitate to revisit this delightful base in the future." The Wightman family May 2008
"The courtyard is great self catering accommodation in the heart of Stirling. The location of the property is very good with the castle, shops and train station all nearby. The apartment has all you need for a comfortable stay. The open plan kitchen/utility/dining area and living area meant that no one was shut way cooking while the others were having fun. There is plenty of cutlery and crockery and an extensive range of utensils, the added bonus for us was the washing machine and tumble dryer, in addition there is a selection of games and books for all ages. The apartment was clean and tidy on arrival with a lovely welcome pack left for us with some essential and treats. The hosts were very welcoming and obliging they kindly invited us to their fireworks dislplay in their garden on hogmany so that our kids didn't have to wait up till midnight for the dispay at the castle. I would throughly reccommend this properly for families with young children and I will definitely go back."
