Once the ancient capital of Scotland, Stirling boasts a wide and interesting range of attractions. There are many that celebrate the city's history and heritage.

There is a wide variety of welcoming pubs, restaurants and shops set within a lively cosmopolitan atmosphere, Stirling is a great city for an unforgettable holiday.

What better way to begin discovering Stirling's fascinating history than by spending some time at the National Wallace Monument, only a short walk up the hill from the cottage.

This major Scottish landmark dominates the landscape and allows you to uncover the legendary story of Sir William Wallace through wonderful displays and recreated scenes which bring Scotland's national hero to life.

You will have a spectacular view of the Castle from the propoerty, so why no visit Stirling Castle? Once the home of Mary Queen of Scots, today the castle allows visitors to step back in time and explore the castle's Great Hall, Royal Chapel, beautifully restored Royal Apartments, and many other intriguing exhibits.

If that wasn't enough, the castle boasts stunning views over the city and beyond, including the historic Battle of Bannockburn site.

Stirling is one of Scotland's newest cities and boasts a vibrant and modern cultural scene. The remainder of your afternoon can be spent enjoying the range of quirky retailers found in the Stirling Arcade, or soaking up the welcoming atmosphere found within Stirling's buzzing restaurants, pubs and bars.

Stirling can look mystical at night time and if you're feeling brave, a great way to experience this is by taking part in the Stirling Ghost Walk. A guided walk with a difference, the tour takes you on a journey where you'll discover the city's dark past.

"I wish we had booked this apartment for more than 2 nights."

The location of this apartment could not have been better. It is conveniently located between Glasgow and Edinburgh in a street that had little traffic after the tourists went home. Being only a few hundred metres from the Wallace Monument it was easy to find and the walks through the grounds of the Monument were pleasant. The view of Stirling Castle from the bedroom window was a bonus.
The apartment was surprisingly roomy and beautifully appointed with everything we needed and more.
The hospitality of our host was exceptional from welcoming homemade shortbread to a willingness to answer all our queries and provide suggestions of places to visit.
It was unfortunate that our stay coincided with a weekend as the nightly tarrif is more expensive. I just wish we had longer here. Thank you.
