The Central Scotland / Strathclyde / Stirling County region
Stirling is considered the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, with it's castle perched on an extinct volcano overlooking flat agricultural carse lands. To the west are the Trossachs Hills, with Loch Venacher and Loch Katrine, and to the east lie the Ochil Hills, all ideal for walking and exploring Scotland's natural beauty. Stirling is also home to various places of historical interest, including the Wallace Monument and the castle, with its connections to Mary Queen of Scots. Central Scotland enjoys mild summers with long, light evenings.
The Stirling / Blair Drummond area
Stirling has all the amenities that one might expect of a small town, including a large sports centre, swimming pool, cinema, large shopping centre and various supermarkets. Furthermore, the University of Stirling offers summer activities for adults and children and has an arts centre and olympic swimming pool. The Edinburgh International Festival takes place in August each year.

We had a simply wonderful time at Park House Cottage. Sue and Jamie were wonderful hosts and gave us some fantastic suggestions for sightseeing in the area. The cottage was clean, well-stocked with necessities and so comfortable. We loved sitting by the fire after a long day of sightseeing. With five of us there, we really enjoyed having two bathrooms as well. Everything was just fantastic! |

The cottage was absolutely stunning with log fire. Very spacious and three large bedrooms. One was a mezzanine with 'pirate bridge' (as the wee ones named it). There were lots of books and games to keep us amused in the evening. The owner Sue could not have been more helpful - a real pleasure. The surrounding area is gorgeous with lovely walks and is so close to the Blair Drummond Safari Park. We will definitely be coming back - every year!!! |
