The Villa Roccaruja is located in the province of Sassari at the edge of the Stintino Peninsula in the town Rocca Ruja.

The villa, build only by local materials, is located in a quiet area, surrounded by a garden with local Mediterranean plats.

The villa has two bedrooms, one with double bed and bathroom and the other one with two single beds. From both bedrooms you have access to a veranda with a double pull-out sofa. On the same floor is a second bathroom with any comfort.

A large and well furnished full-sized kitchen with dishwasher are at guest's disposal. From here you have access to a living room appointed with two sofas and television. Above the kitchen is a superstructure appointed with two beds and two cupboards.

The house is surrounded by terraces with tables and chairs and cosy corner units where you can relax in the Mediterranean sun.

In the garden is a kitchen with barbeque (electrical and char-grill), so it's possible for you to spend enough of your time outside under the warming sun, even during cooking. Outside, behind the house is a shower with warm and cold water.

Besides the garden, the villa has also a terrace with deckchairs and a nice view, where the guest's can relax and take the sun the whole year.

A washing machine is at guest's disposal.

Beautiful beaches with crystal-clear water are next to the villa - only 500 meters away, easy to get by walk.

The town Stintino is located in the extremely north-west of Sardinia in an opposite to Isola Piana (uninhabited) and Isola Asinara. Nowadays, the island Asinara present a national park - worth a trip - the plants and animals are protected , for example the white donkey, an endangered species.

Stintino is a typically and lively small town with bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets at the coast of Sardinia.

This place is a paradise for divers - extremely well for snorkeling. Possibilities for your leisure-time activities: riding, playing tennis, sail board and sailing school....

I advise to you to make an excursion with a ship because you have an overwhelming view over the beautiful coast and the islands out from the seaside.

The international airport Alghero is only 30 km away from the villa.

I advise to you to travel by plane, further you can share a car - alternative you surely have the possibility to travel directly by car and ferry.

The Sardinia region

Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean Sea - 202 km from the Italian mainland (190 km from the island Monte Argentario); in between is the Tyrrhenian Sea.

The French island Corsica is east of Sardinia (only 12 km distance), divided by the Bocche di Bonifatio. West of Sardinia is Menorca (335 km), one of the Balearic Islands, belonging to Spain.

Sardinia has a typical Mediterranean climate: nice and warm in spring and autumn, hot in summer and mild in winter.

Sardinia is one of the most geologically ancient bodies of land in Europe.

The highest mountain, Punta la Marmora, is about 1834 meters; the main island is surrounded by many archipelagos.

Sardinia is a nature reserve and home to a wide variety of rare or uncommon animals and plants under protection of species. The island is populated by many reptiles and amphibians.

Beside the railway Ferrovie dello Stato there are many runnings on narrow-gauge track, best known as Ferrovie della Sardegna. Further, many tourists catch the trenino verde, which runs through the wildest parts of the island. It is slow but allows the traveler to have scenic views impossible to see from the main road (for example between Bosa Marina – Macomer and Arbatax – Mandas). A close-meshed country bus network and three airports (Cagliari, Olbia and Alghero) provide very good travel opportunities. Also you have the possibility to travel by ferry from island to island.

Historic sites: Romanic churches in pisanic or provinzianic style, Byzantine churches.

Geographic sights: 4 national parks, 26 regional parks and 3 marine bio-regions, the red rock of Arbatax, different grottos, mountain road and costal highway between the also worth seeings of the town Alghero and Bosa, the port Porto Cervo and the coast Costa Smeralda, the island La Madalena....

Sporting activities: Freeclimbing, golf, mountainbiking, riding, sailing, diving, windsurfing, hiking, swimming....

Culinary specialities are feta cheese, different pastas, rock lobster, scampi, bottarga, squid, tuna, sardines and other seafood figure, served with Sardinian red - and white wine, Ishnusa, a corrn-based lager-beer or Mirto, a liqueur, made of the fruits of myrte, growing all over the island.

Sardinian (Sardu), a Romance language, is the most widely spoken language on the island, but the Italian language dominate in the praxis of the public life. Above all, the language has been influenced by Catalan, Spanish and indigenous Nuragic elements with some roots from Phoenician; Algherese (Alguerés) is a variant of Catalan spoken in the city of Alghero. Along the northern coast Corsican linguistic enclaves survived.

Stintino

The town Stintino is located in the extremely north-west of Sardinia in an opposite to Isola Piana (uninhabited) and Isola Asinara. Nowadays, the island Asinara present a national park - worth a trip - the plants and animals are protected , for example the white donkey, an endangered species.
