Dormer Cottage is a 17th century brick and timber cottage, typical of this part of Buckinghamshire. It is a listed building situated in the centre of Stewkley. The cottage offers self catering accommodation for four people.
The beamed ground floor sitting room has an inglenook fireplace with an open fire. The dining area has a table and four chairs. The well-equipped galley kitchen has a breakfast bar which overlooks the garden. There is also a separate boot / laundry room.
Stairs lead to the first floor landing, with two bedrooms and a bathroom with bath and shower. The master bedroom has either a large double bed or two single beds as required. The second bedroom has twin single beds.
The cottage is gas centrally heated and fully furnished to a high standard. It is well equipped throughout with everything you would need for a relaxing break.
The garden is secluded, there is parking for two cars and a shed for bicycles.
Stewkley is an historic village on the edge of the Vale of Aylesbury. A number of interesting buildings line the High Street and at the centre of the village is the fine Norman church. Stewkley is a village community and various local organisations offer many activities. The village has a tea room and delicatessen, two pubs which also serve meals, hairdresser, library, church, Methodist chapel, village hall and recreation ground. There are many footpaths in the surrounding countryside for those who enjoy a quiet ramble. Within a ten to twenty minute drive are the local towns of Leighton Buzzard and Aylesbury and the new city of Milton Keynes. They offer a wide range of shops and leisure activities and have railway and coach stations.
Dormer Cottage is an ideal base for those wishing to visit places of interest in the Home Counties. Oxford and Cambridge are an hour`s drive away and London can be reached in under an hour by train from Leighton Buzzard. Woburn Abbey, Waddesdon Manor, Blenheim Palace, Windsor Castle and many smaller historic houses, gardens and National Trust properties are within easy travelling distance, as are Whipsnade Zoo, the Chilterns and the Cotswolds.
