Marquise is a spacious 2-bedroom, 1st floor apartment in a small development of wood and stone chalets newly built by MGM at the centre of Ste Foy village. It has an internal space of 58m² with a modern open plan kitchen with full appliances (fridge / freezer, oven, microwave, dish washer etc), a comfortable 6-seat diner and a bright sitting room with double French window to a large 15m² sun terrace/balcony, with spectacular uninterrupted mountain views across the Tarentaise valley.
There is a large master bedroom with en suite shower room and with direct access to the sun terrace/balcony. The second bedroom has twin beds. There is also a family bathroom and a separate WC.
The apartment is furnished to a very high standard with plenty of storage space. Although the chalet is traditional in style it has all modern comforts including a plasma screen TV, DVD and iPod docking station. Secured parking is provided at the ground floor with electronic door. There is also a ski locker provided for the apartment.
The apartment is in the Sainte Foy village centre so have all the shops, bars and restaurants at door step. The slopes and lifts at Sainte Foy ski resort are 6km away, served in the winter by a regular FREE shuttle bus service. A five minute drive will take you to the Villaroger ski runs and lift (which can be been seen from the sitting room) which are part of Les Arcs resort and its 425kms of ski runs. Alternatively, Tignes, Val d'Isere and La Rosiere are all within a short 15-25 minutes drive away.

SAINTE FOY is an idyllic Savoyard village in the heart of the French Alpes and on the sunny side of the Isère valley, with its own church, post office, hotel / restaurants and of course its own ski resort!
Sainte Foy was recently awarded the No 1 Ski Resort by the Sunday Times and is regularly referred to as one of Europe's Top 3 resorts for off-piste skiing.
The snow record is excellent and the ski resort has a long season.
The Ste Foy station is 6km from the village, and served by chairlifts that never develop any queues! it's uncrowded and the powder can last untracked for many days (on the back side of the mountain always until the next snowfall). It’s also a perfect place for children and beginners as well as for a relaxing ski holiday away from the crowds. It has over 45 km of carefully kept ski runs from the easy runs through the forests and meadows to the steeper and far more daring descents. Sainte Foy Ski Resort is internationally highly regarded for its extensive lift accessed off piste areas, including the off piste route past a deserted village to a tiny ancient hamlet of Le Monal (which is only occupied in the summer).. The lift start at a snow sure altitude of 1550 m. All shops. restaurants, nursery slopes and ski school are just a stroll away.
Only 5 minutes drive away you will be in the village Villaroger (the village church tower can be seen from our apartment's terrace). There you can take the high speed ski lift to Les Arcs and its vast skiing areas.
A 15 to 20 minute comfortable drive from the village takes you to VAL D’ISERE, the bustling and lively ski resort famous for it's snow sure record and excellent skiing and boarding condition of over 300 km of runs and unlimited off piste skiing in the Espace Killy ski area, which is shared with neighbouring Tignes.
LA ROSIERE with its link with La Thuile in Italy is also a short drive from the village.
Our property manager in Sainte Foy can also organise specialist off-piste guiding and tuition, all mountain sports and even a ski hire service in your room!
Ste Foy is also one of the prettiest bases for exploring the Alps in the summer. There are many outstanding mountain hiking and cycling routes. The river d'Isère running fast Sainte Foy provides one of the longest and exciting white water rafting experiences of the Alps - the rafting, canyoning and kayaking centre is in nearby Bourg St Maurice.
Ste Foy village is about 10km south of Bourg St. Maurice (TGV-station) where there are 2 large, very well stocked supermarkets, banks, post office and many restaurants and lively bars.

Some guests choose to ski a different resort each day; others choose to ski the world famous Val d'Isère - Tignes circuit without paying world famous resort prices or enduring world famous resort commercialisation!
Ski schools
Ski schools: The ESF ski school in Sainte Foy is friendly and very well run.
Children
Sainte Foy is well known for being a very child friendly resort with fully equipped creche and special ski school area for children. Details on child-minding are available from our property manager in advance.
Non skiers
Non-skiers can choose from snow-shoeing, dog-sledding, ice-climbing, ice fishing, ice-skating and swimming nearby. Or just relax on the sunny balcony at the Chalet. Shopping in nearby Bourg St Maurice or in the boutiques of Val d'Isere is also excellent.
Val d'Isere
Probably the most famous ski resort in the world, Val d’Isère has one of the best snow records in Europe, links with Tignes to form ‘L’Espace Killy’ which is 10 miles across. A ski Mecca with a useful bit of luxury shopping thrown is as well.
However, for all its attractions we find that most people who stay in Sainte Foy and visit Val d'Isere spend the rest of their holiday back in Sainte Foy luxuriating in zero crowds, zero queues and plenty of untracked powder.
Summer
There are numerous walking and mountain bike routes in the area. In the peak summer months of July and August, many of the ski lifts in the neighbouring resorts of Les Arcs, Val d’Isère and Tignes are open to cyclists and walkers to allow access to the high mountains. For walkers, we are also very close to the Vanoise National Park with its unique wildlife (plenty of marmots and chamoise).
Other activities available include river sports (canoeing, white water rafting, hydro speeding, cannoning), golf, horse riding, tennis, fishing, bird watching and rock climbing. Cultural interests include the Baroque church trail, the local Vins de Savoie vineyards, concerts and many local fairs throughout the summer.

The ski apartment is located in the old traditional village of Sainte Foy down the mountain from the ski station. The ski resorts of Ste Foy, Val d'Isere, Tignes, Les Arcs and La Rosiere all within 5 to 20 minutes drive. In the winter, there is also a regular shuttle bus that drives from the old village to the ski station of Ste Foy.
Ste Foy village is close to Lyon (2 hours drive) and Geneva (2.5 hours drive). Lyon and Geneva are served by major national airlines including British Airways and the low cost airlines. All major car hires companies offer competitive rates from these airports.
We are a comfortable 10-hour drive from the Channel. Alternatively, Eurostar runs direct services from Waterloo or Ashford to Bourg St Maurice during the winter, which is a 15 minute drive down the valley.
We would recommend hiring a car so that you can visit at least some of the world class skiing resorts around the village!
