Home description

Brand new for 2008/2009, The apartment is furnished and equipped to a very high standard, with open plan kitchen / dining / living room .The kitchen includes a dishwasher, full-size Bosch oven / grill, radiant 4-ring hob and fridge / freezer. The extendable pine dining table has seating for up to eight people, while the living area has large ,comfortable sofas, as well as TV, CD and DVD.

There are two bedrooms, one double with en suite shower room, and one with 2 full-size bunk beds which is great for 4 children .There is a further family bathroom (with washer/drier) and separate WC. All towels and linen are provided.

This delightful apartment is part of the new MGM development of L'Arpege des Neiges, just a 50 metre walk from the centre of the village and ski-bus stop taking you up to Ste Foy ski resort which is just 4km away.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region

The Savoie (Savoy) department is situated in the Northern Alps region. It covers an area of over 6,000 km2 much of which is mountainous. With over 55 ski resorts it has one of the largest concentrations of lift served skiing in the world. The department is also home to France's first national park, the Vanoise, created in the 1960s. This protected zone is a mecca for ski tourers and a haven of peace for many species of animal including chamois and even wolves.

The department is named after the former Duchy of Savoie, an independent state until the 1860s. The region retains a strong identity and a local dialect.


Ste Foy Tarentaise area

Few communes the size of Sainte Foy extend over such a vast area, or such a large difference in altitude. 11,000 hectares and spans a height difference of 2856m, from its lowest point at Viclaire at 890m to the summit of the Grande Sassière at 3746m.

To the South is the river Isère and to the north for 20 or so kilometers by the Italian border. This can be easily crossed by the two mountain passes, the Col du Mont and the Col du Rocher Blanc.

Many activities apart from skiing can take place Take one of the mountain paths that winds its way through the pine forests to one of the charming alpine hamlets like Le Monal, Le Planay or the Sainte Guerin chapel.
Snow shoes can be rented from the ski shops at the resort,Heliskiing is authorised by the Italian authorities.

As Sainte Foy is situated close to the Italian border it is a fantastic site for heliskiing, Ski biking , Discover the snow-covered landscapes of Sainte-Foy by driving your own sled pulled by your own team of dogs led by professional guides, not forgetting there are Spa and fitness facilities and kids clubs and creches.

Ste Foy is approx. 2.hours 20mins from Geneva or Lyon airports (with Geneva being serviced by flights from Easy Jet every 2hours), or 1.5 hours from Grenoble/Chambery airports but the flights here are less frequent.

There are many Companies that will arrange travel for you to St Foy (which i can recommend) or you can hire a car or get a Taxi.

If You arrive by train The Eurostar stops in Bourg St Maurice and buses or taxis are readily available at the Station and take just 20 mins.

Voted recently as one of the 'Top 10' ski resorts in the world, Sainte Foy Tarentaise is a great ski destination - either for hardened 'powder-hounds' after the renowned off-piste skiing, or for families looking for a friendly, pretty resort, with virtually no queues!! Ste Foy Village also offers the benefit of being able to easily access four other ski areas - Paradiski, La Rosiere, Tignes and Val d'Isere - all within 15 minutes.

Further details outdoors:
The private car park is directly under the chalet and is available for guest's use, with radio controlled entry and exit - there is also some parking availabilty directly outside. There is a ski locker room , and all getting from the parfking to the aprtment is vis a lift , so no walking up lots of steps after a long days skiing. Balcony furniture is provided in summer - table, chairs. The chalet is surrounded by beautiful scenery and has views of the mountains, pastures and forests. The village itself has boulangerie / village store, Tabac / Presse, Post Office and several good restaurants - only 5 minutes / 100 meters walk from the apartment.
