About the home

Mays Cottage is a pretty whitewashed fisherman's cottage overlooking the sea and beach situated in the beautiful coastal village of Beesands, with direct access to the coastal path. Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth are just a short distance away with a variety of shops and markets. There is an excellent village pub that serves good food with locally caught fish dishes on the menu and is only a short walk from the cottage.

The West Country / Devon region

The South Hams region provides wonderful scenery and coastal walks together with lovely sandy beaches at Mill Bay, Bigbury and Blackpool Sands, Dartmouth and Salcombe provide local boating centres and a variety of shops. It has a mild climate and spring comes early with a wide variety of plants and flowers.

The Start Bay / Beesands area

Whilst being a peaceful location activities take place in the local area all year round.

There are several National Trust properties nearby including "Greenways" Agatha Christie's house. Dartmouth Castle is also well worth a visit. Swimming pools can be found at Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. Pubs and restaurants providing good food and real ales are plentiful. For those wishing to cater for themselves fresh caught fish are sold in Beesands, and there are several butchers and bakers selling local produce nearby together with the market in Kingsbridge.

“Excellent cottage with wonderful views” The cottage was wonderful with all the facilities you would ever need. We had a fantastic time. The beach is just a few paces away from the front door and we had breakfast on the beach every day. The local pub, the Cricketer's Arms, served amazing food and great local ale and beer. There was even a little shack at the start of the street that sold fresh fish and shellfish every day. In fact, there was really no need to go anywhere else. For a relaxing family holiday, it really fitted the bill. Don't forget to take a wetsuit for swimming and a something to float on in the sea as the bay is very calm and stretches for miles.
