There is a well equipped kitchen with a full size gas cooker, washing machine, fridge and microwave. Next to the kitchen is a spacious dining area leading into the lounge, which has a double sofa bed and a smaller sofa and English TV and DVD player. The French doors from the lounge lead onto a tiled patio with patio furniture and bar-b-cue.
Stairs from the lounge lead to a very attractive double bedroom and stylish shower room. The gite is centrally heated for winter lets.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Dordogne region
There is a wealth of things to do in the countryside of the Limousin, it is a perfect area for walking, and some good walks can be had directly from ‘La Retreat’. You can also go horse riding and fishing locally, both carp fishing and coarse fishing are available.
Bird watchers will enjoy watching the wealth of birds in the area and it is lovely to watch the buzzards circling on the thermals. We are under the migratory paths and during spring and autumn, migrating birds can easily be seen, including huge flocks of storks. There are several beautiful villages in easy reach and the historic town of Limoges with it's history of porcelain manufacture.
We are in a beautiful position for people with a passion for painting and drawing, with lovely views without leaving your terrace.
The St Yrieix la Perche area
The attractive town of St Yrieix la Perche is only 5km away, and has a number of fine restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. There are plenty of good supermarkets and also small specialist shops to browse around. A general market takes place every two weeks on a Friday morning, with an abundance of excellent food stalls, fresh vegetables and clothes and crafts.
St Yrieix is on the Richard the Lionheart route, with beautiful chateaux and churches along the way.There are a variety of festivals during the summer months, artistic, musical and for the more adventurous, ballooning and a car rally.

La Porcherie is a well appointed gite ideal for a couple wanting a relaxed holiday. Set in spacious grounds with views of the countryside together with a swimming pool and unique bar. Though in a rural hamlet, St Yriex la Perch is only 10 minutes away by car and has a good range of supermarkets, shops and restaurants. Limoges is only 35minutes by car.
