Two modern newly refurbished holiday apartments. Private balcony/garden. Apartment A suitable for up to 3 people and the Apartment B suitable for up to 5. The apartments are very light and airy, and benefit from all day sunshine. The apartment house overlooks Lake Wolfgang with pleasant views from all aspects. Located at the base of the Schafberg mountain, where the famous train takes walkers to the peak. At the bottom of the road, just 3 minutes walk, is Lake Wolfgang and the lake bathing area. Just 5 minutes walk is the windsurf and water ski school and it is just 10 minutes to the centre of St Wolfgang. A 5 minute walk towards the centre of Ried brings you to a point where the lake & mountain views are simply breathtaking. A perfect holiday for those looking for relaxation, watersports, hiking or culture. A cot, highchair and buggy can be provided. Apartments were awarded "3 Edelweiss" (equivalent to 3 stars) on 25th October 2008.

The Upper Austria/Salzkammergut region
The Salzkammergut is one of the most beautiful regions in the heart of Austria enjoying four true seasons every year! In winter the breathtaking scenery appears in all its splendour when the mountains and lakes turn into a stunning white paradise. Wolfgangsee is one of ten regions which make up Salzkammergut. Wolfgangsee is dominated by Lake Wolfgang and St Wolfgang is one of the prettiest towns set on the edge of the lake.
Year round, there are paddle steamers and ferries on the 11km Lake Wolfgang which stop at all the lakeside villages including St Wolfgang, St Gilgen, Strobl and Abersee.
St Wolfgang area
St Wolfgang, right in the heart of Austria's lake district, is full of history and charm with its lakeside ancient pilgrimage church, frescoed old buildings and cobbled streets. But most famous is the delightful steam train ride, on a cog railway, to the top of the Schafberg Mountain. The panoramic views are simply breathtaking and you feel you are on top of the world!
There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars in St Wolfgang where you can enjoy Austrian delicacies such as Apfel Strudel, and there are lots of interesting shops to explore.
Operatic and folklore concerts can be enjoyed throughout the year in the village, and at Christmas time, there is the wonderful Christmas market where you find individual wooden stalls selling lots of homemade gifts and crafts as well as some of the Austrian speciality food such as krapfen (similar to doughnuts) and gluwein.
For skiing, there is the popular Postalm ski resort which is a 25 minute drive by car or you can take the free daily ski bus. The Postalm is very much a family ski area and the selection of runs are suitable for both beginners and more experienced skiers. There is also the Hintersee slopes, which are within a 50 minute drive by car. The Hintersee slopes are more challenging and are not used by the package holiday operators, which makes for less crowded slopes and good ski-ing for intermediates and experienced alike. Then slightly further afield, approximately 1 hour away, is the Dachstein West Ski area with over 140 KM of ski tracks, again more suitable for intermediary skiers.
In the summer, you can enjoy the lake for bathing or numerous watersports. Year round, you can take a paddle steamer or lake ferry across to the other lakeside villages of St Gilgen, Strobl and Abersee which are all worth a visit. St Gilgen is the birthplace of Mozart's mother and is where his sister was married and houses a museum on Mozart. You can also enjoy a cable car ride to the top of the Zwolferhorn mountain.
Walk just a few minutes from the apartment towards the centre of the hamlet of Ried, and the views you will encounter are some of the most stunning in the whole of the Salzkammergut area. You can walk on further past Ried and up over the mountain, across to the hamlet of Winkl and onto the village of St Gilgen.
The royal spa town of Bad Ischl is just 15 minutes away and the wonderful city of Salzburg is just 45 minutes from St Wolfgang.

How to get there
*Fly to Salzburg, cheap flights from Flybe.com, Ryanair.com & Thomsonfly.com.
*Car hire is advised although not necessary as the shuttle bus from the airport goes to the main bus station, where you can get a local bus to St Wolfgang. It is about 90 minute journey and cost approx 4 euros. Driving, transfer time is approximately 45 minutes.

Further details indoors: The apartments are in a detached Austrian House. Apartment A has a double bedroom with a separate lounge/kitchen/diner with a sofa bed. Apartment B has one large bedroom with a second bedroom/lounge with two double sofa beds. Apartment B also benefits from a separate kitchen/diner. Bed linen, towels, iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner are provided together with all essential kitchenware. There is a stereo/radio/cd system, so you can bring your favourite tapes or CDs and a TV with european satellite channels and DVD player. Apartment A has a large balcony for which furniture is provided so the stunning views can be enjoyed day or night. There is also a garden for guests to enjoy.
