The Black Sea Coast region
The Bulgarian Black Sea Coast is very popular with foreign tourists and is an ideal holiday destination. The average air temperature in the summer is 28 degrees. The warm clear waters are calm and safe and it has wide golden sandy beaches which make it ideal for families with children.
The currency is the Bulgarian Lev and the exchange rate is very favourable, often a better rate can be obtained whilst in Bulgaria for Pounds to Lev.
The Black Sea Coast has two international airports Bourgas and Varna.
The largest resort on the coast is Sunny Beach.
St Vlas area
St Vlas (Sveti Vlas) is a beautiful coastal village at the foot of the Balkan Mountains. St Vlas is 5 kilometres from the popular resort of Sunny Beach, close enough to enjoy the atmosphere and attractions if you wish but far enough away to enjoy the quiet unique mountain and sea climate relaxation. Regular buses/ taxis are available to nearby towns and attractions.
St Vlas has stunning sandy beaches and a new yacht marina with a fine array and top quality restaurants, bars and shops.
The ancient town of Nessebar can be found 9 km to the South. It is located on a small peninsula in the Black Sea and can be seen across the waters from St Vlas. The picturesque town is one of the oldest in Europe and is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has lots of historical charm with its cobbled street and courtyards. There are hourly water taxis available from the Marina at a cost of 10 lev per Adult and 5 lev per child. The boat takes approximately 20 minutes and is a fabulous trip.
The sprawling village of St Vlas is a must to meet the friendly locals and sample true Bulgarian cuisine. The prices in the village and very reasonable and are often much cheaper than the bigger tourist resorts. The food is of a very high standard and beer can cost as little as 35p a pint.
St Vlas is mostly suited to families with children and couples.
There are two large waterparks which offer FREE minibuses from St Vlas.
