The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region

The beaches of the Western Riviera are mostly soft sand, and St. Tropez has some of the finest beaches in the area, the most popular being along the Baie de Pampelonne. Many of the beaches offer windsurfing, sailing and canoeing equipment for rent, while others offer motorized water sports, such as power boats, jet bikes and water skiing.

A number of Cotes de Province vineyards are located on St. Tropez's Peninsular which is dominated by two medieval hill-top villages, Gassin and Ramatuelle. The coastal footpath from St. Tropez to Ramatuelle offers some rewarding hikes and spectacular views.

St Tropez area

Sitting on the peninsular overlooking the bay, St. Tropez was originally a fishing village accessible only by sea. Despite its modern day fame, the town still retains much of its original character and charm evident in the narrow winding streets of the old town. One of the best examples is the area called Quartier de la Ponche where this apartment is located, and you can find many coolly chic restaurants, cafes and art galleries.

The apartment is about 5 minutes walk from the Place des Lices, where you will find a large open air market on Tuesdays and Saturdays offering a wide range of fresh food, designer clothes, antiques etc. The daily fish market is minutes from the apartment in Place aux Herbes by the old harbour. Wandering around the streets of St. Tropez you will see many well known fashion designers' boutiques, as well as art galleries and cafes. In the evenings you have a rich choice of entertainment and night life in the bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

Next to the Port is Musee de l’Annonciade set in a 16th century chapel which features work by artists who painted in Saint-Tropez and its environs, beginning with Paul Signac, and including Bonnard, Matisse, Marquet, Dufy, Derain, Vlaminck, and Van Dongen.

On the other side of the old town from the Port is the 16th - 18th century Citadelle from which you can see fine views over the town, along the coast and across the Bay to Sainte Maxime.

Guestbook for Loft in Old Town St. Tropez

Steve & KC, June 2008: My husband and I had a wonderful visit to St. Tropez for our honeymoon. The location was amazing as it is so convenient to all St. Tropez has to offer. The apartment has everything you need (kitchen gadgets, bedding, linens, modern bathroom, air conditioning, etc.) to have a stress free vacation. It's a great apartment that we'd definitely recommend to others and hope to stay at again!!

Adrienne, May 2008: I strongly suggest this apartment. I just vacated yesterday and could not wait to post what a wonderful experience I had. Immaculate, stylish, and quiet. I travelled as a single woman and therefore it was probably too much space, but to walk just a few minutes from the port and get a good nights sleep it's worth it. The little kitchen was perfect for cooking light meals. Great area, very near the La Ponche quarter, a Petit Casino, Bakery, and many of St. Tropez's cute little boutique restaurants.

Peke, March 2008: Really, its a nice & quite apartment in the centre of the old town of St.Tropez. You can reach every part of the town just walking 5 or 10 minutes. The famous old port, is just 5 minutes walking from the apartment, so ... its one of the most beautiful locations you can stay in st.Tropez. The apartment is fantastic. the decoration matches a lot with all the Tropezziene style. It's very clean and you can find everything you could need in an apartment stay. Its perfect for 2-4 people, Its like a loft, but with two different ambients (upper and lower) very well defined and can maintain privacy if you want. And the owner and her assistant, always is taking care of your needs. I strongly recommend that option in St.Tropez... all the weeks .. except one week... the one that we'll repeat next time!!

Hillmax, November 2007: I just loved this apartment! It is so full of ambiance, it is right in the heart of the village and right behind the church so you hear the church bells.....the kitchen was well equipped for all sorts of cooking.....it was spotless.....and the owner, Mary, is delightful to work with......I am definitely going back this year!!!!!!!

Lulo , August 2007: The location is perfect because is in the heart of a wonderful city. To have the parking pass is for me a plus. The property is clean and very well maintained. All things necessary are available in the apartment. The owner is a nice and friendly person and the e -mail contacts are perfects. Obviously we have recommended this property to our friends.
