Port Grimaud, known as "Little Venice",
One of the French Riviera's most beautiful holiday villages, Port Grimaud has been built in true Provençal style around a maze of canals and walkways.
Many hours can be happily spent wandering around it's delightful streets, shopping at the twice-weekly market, or just relaxing in one of the many pavement cafés, waterside bars or various restaurants with mouth-watering cuisine to suit all tastes and budgets.
Port Gimaud enjoys lovely panoramic views across the clear, blue, Mediterranean to cosmopolitan St.Tropez - a visit to which is a must and only a short boat ride away.
Port Grimaud is a great attraction for anyone interested in boats and offers a range of water sports. The town is mainly traffic free and the properties come with their own berth. With the total length of the quays at 12km, yachts of every description can be safely moored here and transport for visitors around the harbour is by waterbus (coche d'eau).
There is a beautiful sandy beach within easy walking distance of the residences and water skiing, sailing, snorkelling and scuba-diving are all available as an alternative to sunbathing. Other outdoor pursuits in the vicinity include golf, tennis and horse-riding. Port Grimaud is also a great place from which to explore the unspoilt inland area of Provence including the Massif des Maures, the local vineyards and several pretty hilltop villages.
Église St-Francois-d'Assise (the Church of St. Francis of Assisi) in the main Place d'Église is a modern version of the local Romanesque style of architecture with a simple interior, exposed wooden roof beams and stained glass windows designed by Victor Vasarely. The bell tower gives an excellent view of Port Grimaud, St. Tropez and the Maures hills beyond.
From Port Grimaud there is a regular boat service to St. Tropez which is certainly worth a trip to see the harbour, its ancient winding streets and alleyways along with its chic reThis beautiful village is well catered for with amenities. Different restaurants to choose from catering for all tastes and budgets, fashion boutiques and craft shops. Port Grimaud has two sandy beaches within walking distance, with restaurant, sunbed facilities and dingy and boat hire. Two mornings a week the market is held in the main Square which has a great selection of local produce and fashion items. There is also a small tourist train which runs up to the old village of Grimaud. Its charm is infinite.
staurants and pavement cafés.
A lively local market is held twice a week selling local produce and there are excellent shops in the town.
