The Languedoc-Roussillon region

Situated to the south of Pezenas, this ancient historical village of 2000 people has existed since Roman times. The village is built on the edge of a volcano and is where the Herault and Thongue river come together. The old part of the village is surrounded by a dyke to stop flooding.

The Celts once lived here and the Romans built a road ( Via Domitia ) through the village. Within the village boundaries you will find a Roman Bridge, an early medieval corn mill and bridge, and a Benedictine Abbey. The church in the centre of the village has been a place of pilgrimage for those passing through on the 'Santaigo de Compestilla' since those times and many of the 15th century houses still remain intact.

The village is surrounded by vineyards and it's old Celtic name of Cessero is given to one of its appellations.

St Thibery, although expanded still retains the authenticity of rural France with its many traditions and festivals. Look out for the annual jazz festival as well as the motor cross competitions.

The village has two bread shops, a small grocery shop, two cafes, a post office, a wine cave and tennis courts.

There are lots of small roads for cycling, beach is about 15 mins by car, and there is a nice walk to an old Roman bridge.

Situated inbetween the larger charming towns of Pézenas and Agde accessible by a bus service and not far away by car.

Local beaches of Cap D'Agde/Grau D'Agde are approx 15 mins by car,

In Agde there is an SNCF train station for sightseeing to large cities of Beziers; Montpellier, Narbonne, Carcassonne, Perpignan and further afield.
