Home description
This charming old villa with sunny gardens is set in the hillside in a quiet area of Vence and is one of my favourites!
Villa Lavande is tastefully furnished, with a large living/dining room, well-equipped kitchen, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a lovely sunny terrace bordered by lavender, extensive lawned gardens and private parking.
The villa is located in a quiet neighbourhood to the west of Vence town centre, and is approximately 20 minutes walk from the town and all of its amenities.
This is a lovely place in which to base yourselves to relax, enjoy the old town of Vence, go walking or cycling in the hills or explore the many attractions of the Cote d’Azur.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
Sightseeing is endless; The nearest places of interest are the old town of Vence; the Matisse chapel in Vence; the art galleries of St Paul de Vence; the pretty village of Tourettes-sur-Loup; the perched village of Gourdon; the town and perfumeries of Grasse; the city and “Promenade des Anglais” of Nice; the port of Nice; the beaches and old town of Antibes; the “Croisette” and town of Cannes; the village and glass makers of Biot; the marine park at Marineland near Antibes.
Other entertainment includes exploring the beautiful surrounding countryside and views, cinema, wine tasting, the many art galleries, watching the French ‘joie de vivre’ and boules in the square.
St Paul de Vence / Vence area
Vence is an artist’s town and along with its equally well-known neighbouring town of Saint Paul de Vence, is situated amidst the beautiful hilly scenery to the west of Nice. It has drawn artists both well known and amateur, and a special attraction is “Matisse’s Chapel”, just a short walking distance from the beautiful old-town. Another is the “Chagall painting” in the Cathedral. There is a wide range of shops, restaurants, boulangeries and markets in the town centre of Vence and Villa Lavande is situated approximately 2.5 km away. It is possible to walk from the villa to the town, which takes approx 20 minutes via a shortcut (please note: this route is unlit and uphill on the return). There is also a 3-screen cinema in the town.
The Mediterranean towns of Nice, Antibes and Cannes are all close by where you can enjoy a day on the beach, or visit the ports. Tennis, golf, equitation, and water sports are all nearby, as well as a local outdoor swimming pool from May - Sept. With its close proximity to the surrounding hilly countryside, the villa is an ideal base for those who enjoy the outdoors, walking and cycling. The region is also well served by ski-stations in the winter, some of which can be reached within an hours drive. The villa is within easy reach of Nice International Airport and all that the Cote d’Azur has to offer.
How to get there
By Car – Vence lies in the hills to the west of Nice and can be easily accessed from the N7

By Train – Eurostar runs from London to Paris city centres and then the high speed TGV service runs from Paris to Nice.
Full directions will be sent to you once you have made a booking.

Guestbook
We have had a most comfortable stay and so enjoyed eating outside in the beautiful weather. Thank you so much – Mrs K. from Leicestershire, Oct 06.
A beautiful house and a beautiful part of France, we have had a superb stay here, best wishes Mrs B. from Edinburgh, Oct 06.
We’ve enjoyed staying here for two weeks, mainly with fine sunny weather. The house is very comfortable and has absolutely everything possible required. It’s a strong possibility that we would return to this area and indeed would very much like to stay here again. Vence has everything you need and has been particularly relaxing. Thank you very much – Mr P. from Stirling, Mar 07.
What a beautiful place to stay for our first visit to Provence! We have loved our time at your comfortable and beautifully decorated house – whatever we needed during the week it was there! We loved the experience of exploring the area (starting with the garden for the children!) and the house made for the perfect base – Mr. M from Dublin, Apr 07.
A fantastic week living in a fantastic house! Monte Carlo was truly awesome! Mr B. from Hants, Aug 07.
Villa Lavande was a lovely property and we enjoyed our stay - Mrs F. from Buckinghamshire, Sept 06
