BookThe Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
The Côte d'Azur is one of the most well known and fabulous places in the world! There is so much to see and do.... one week is never enough!
The climate in the French Riviera is generally mild and sunny throughout the Spring and Autumn, and even in the Winter during the day, but it can be very cool in the evenings. A good time to visit and avoid the main tourist season. Why not come in February or March to see the beautiful Mimosas in full bloom?
Summer is of course the best season to visit if you want to work on your tan. June to September has endless lazy sunny days and gorgeously warm evenings with a great choice of night-life, both locally and in Nice or beyond.
One thing for sure..... you will always want to return!
The St Paul de Vence / Saint Paul area
The first time you visit St Paul de Vence you will not believe it is real...it gives you a feeling like being on a film set!
This authentic Medieval, walled village has become one of the most visited villages in France. It is only 5 minutes walk from the villa, making it easy to stroll in for your morning croissant and coffee, linger over a long lazy lunch in one of the outdoor restaurants, have a drink at the Café de la Place, where the locals like to congregate and play boules (pétanque), or dress to impress and join the jet-set for dinner at La Colombe d'Or.
If you like art and history, many of the arcaded 16C and 17C houses bearing coats of arms are now artist's studios, antique shops, and art galleries.
The Urn-shaped fountain with its vaulted washing place in the square is of particular interest. The Gothic church building was constructed from the 12C to the 13 C, with the vaulting rebuilt in the 17C and the bell-tower in the 18C. At the end of the north aisle hangs a painting attributed to Tintoretto of St Catherine of Alexandria.
The other chapel is adorned with a Madonna of the Rosary (1588) with Catherine de Medici in the crowd. From the bastion of the south gate, overlooking the cemetery, there is a superb view of the Alps and the coastline. The ramparts remain such as they were built (1537-47) by François I. Follow them around counter-clockwise using the parapet walk where possible.
Also just 5 - 10 minutes walk from the villa, you can visit the Fondation Maeght, designed by José Luis Sert, which exhibit artworks from Braque, Chagall, Léger, Kandinsky, Miro, Tapiès ...
A short drive from the villa is the beautiful town of Vence heading towards Grasse...both worth a visit.
Nice of course is only 10-15 mins drive and is always buzzing whatever time of year you visit....stroll along the Promenade des Anglais and check out the beach, shop in Galeries Lafayettes or visit the wonderful flower market in the Old Town and stay on for coffee, lunch and sometimes even dinner!

FLY - Perfectly situated only 15 minutes from Nice Airport. Easyjet, British Airways and most major airlines fly in to Nice.
CAR HIRE - As you come out of Arrivals many major car hire companies are directly in the airport.
We do recommend a car to make the most of the Cote d'Azur and your stay, but collection and return to the airport can be arranged with the owner for a fixed rate (subject to availability) if required.
TRAIN - Guests who do not wish to drive or fly can travel by train. There is an excellent service via Rail Europe from London St Pancras to Paris on Eurostar and then TGV direct to to the main line station in Nice then onto the local station at Cagnes sur Mer.
