Bosun's Cottage is perfectly situated on the shore with panoramic views and great comfort within. With 4 bedrooms and bathrooms it is an ideal family home and even has a play/ relax room with TV on the second floor. It is adjacent to the Fife coastal path and enjoys have a a award winning seafood restaurant and a quality pub a walk away.

There is an excellent grocery shop plus a fish shop also a short walking distance away. Its close proximity to the wonderful villages of Elie, Earlsferry, Crail, Pittenweem and Anstruther - with the coastal path and wonderful beaches makes it a walkers paradise. The house is ideal for a large family or two small families. It is in a very safe location with no through traffic and a friendly & secure back garden.

The accommodation which sleeps 8 on 3 levels with the following layout and underfloor heating throughout:


The small lobby inside the front door which houses coat cupboards leads to the dining room which has a large dining table and enjoys panoramic views of the firth of Forth including Bass Rock, Berwick Law and St Michaels Island.

There are double doors from the dining room which lead to a large and well-appointed kitchen which has an eye level oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, a large fridge/freezer and an abundance of cupboard space. On the sea side of the house there is also a twin bedroom, again with lovely views and built in cupboards. Off the passage there is also a shower room.

First Floor

At the top of the stairs is bedroom no 2 which is a double with built in cupboards. This looks out from the back of the house onto the village. Across the passage is bathroom no 2 which has a bath but no shower. This leads to the master shower en suite double bedroom which has panoramic views of the coast. This room houses wifi which covers the whole house. Also on the sea side is the drawing room which is has several windows with magnificent sea views and seating for at least 8. It also has a TV and DVD.

Second floor:

The second flight of stairs leads to bedroom 4 which is a twin bedroom with an alcove with plenty of storage space. Opposite this bedroom is a playroom with a second TV a table and chairs and a few games. Adjacent to this room is the laundry with a washing machine and a tumble drier. There is also a 4th Bathroom off the playroom with a shower.

Bosun's Cottage is located right on the sea with magnificent views of May Island, the Bass Rock and Berwick Law.

A small secluded garden is situated at the back at the house with a garden table and chairs available. The sea shore is on the front.

There is a private parking for 2/3 cars on a bricked area at the back of the house.

Changeover days for weekly stays are Saturdays. Changeover days for short stays will be agreed by arrangement at the time of the booking. The properties will be ready for you by 4pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by not later than 10am on the day of departure.

The Fife region

The East Neuk of Fife is one of the most beautiful, coastal areas of Scotland. It has many recreational, sporting including water sports and golf, wildlife and historical amenities and the Fife coastal path has to be a walker's scenic paradise.

The villages along the East Neuk of Fife are a under publicised treasure. From Crail to Elie we have the beautiful harbours of villages like St Monans, Anstruther and Pittenweem. The Fife Coastal path, which stretches all along, this coast provides nature lovers with everything they could wish for in addition to the spectacular views of May Island, Bass Rock and Berwick Law.

St Andrews is a joy to visit for its historical background as much as its famous golf courses.

Falkland Palace is a historical treasure. You can have all this and also the peace and serenity of St Monans.

St Monans

Bosun’s Cottage is situated on a very quiet cull de sac and only has the road between the property and the sea. It is about 20 minutes from St Andrews. St Monans itself is a small fishing village, which used to have Millers boat yard which built fairly substantial fishing boats. The harbour is very picturesque and as a relic of the past are the saltpans which in yesteryears were an active part of the local economy.

There are plenty of activities in the area: the Fife Coastal Path, seafood and other excellent restaurants, water sports are just 10 minutes away. There is a very famous restaurant in the village “The Seafood Restaurant” which also owns the Seafood Restaurant in St Andrews. The village is also fortunate to have an excellent restaurant at the Mayview Hotel. There are also many quality beaches ideal for children in the area

St Monans is very centrally placed being 20 minutes from St Andrews, under 10 minutes from Anstruther which has an excellent 9-hole golf course not to mention a good restaurant called “Rockies” at the club. Elie and Earlsferry and its beautiful golf course and the Elie Sports Club with tennis and bowls and a 9-hole golf course are also about 10 minutes away. There are over 20 golf courses within 15 miles.

Interesting to see the East Neuk Music Festival and the Pittenweem Art Festival.

"Fabulous location"

Stayed in this seaside property whilst visiting family in the area. The views from the property are breathtaking and we had great weather which helped. Very spacious accomodation for our party of mum, dad, grandma, two teenagers and dog. The property was well equipped and had plenty of towlels and bedlinen. Could have done with some more glass tumblers and more cutlery but we just filled the dishwasher daily to address the shortfall. Great showers in both bathrooms, but the flush on the toilet was very poor in the en suite and lead to us not using it for most of the stay. Walks from the house were wonderful and we spent many happy hours exploring the the Fife coastal path. Great farm shop a mile or so away and we also found a brilliant doggy daycare kennels about three miles away which enabled us to visit Edinburgh Zoo without the dog. If you are looking for luxury this is not the house for you. But if you like fab views, long seaside walks, comfortable, warm, spacious, dog friendly accommodation then this house is perfect. We would definitely return.

"great place for a group holiday"

this is a lovely property in a great location. My only complaint is that there is no T.V. downstairs for the use of wheelchair-bound holidaymakers. We had one problem which was very quickly dealt with by Debbie so full marks there.

"Handy relaxed accommodation with basic facilities"

Plenty of space but the furniture items were quite basic, including lounge room furniture and single beds. The toilet to the main bedroom was small, and upstairs rooms were sparsely furnished. Kitchen had most amenities and all appliances needed. Unusual to have washer and dryer on the top floor. It would suit a family staying for a few weeks, but not suited to executive accommodation.

Thank you for taking the time to review the property. We are pleased to report that the house has recently benefitted from some cosmetic improvements (including new carpets).

"Excellent spot for holiday with young children."

The let was arranged very professionally from start to finish. Communication was efficient. All of the family from grandparents to the youngest toddler had a great time. The property was well equipped and a cot and high chair supplied at no extra cost. The rock pools provided lots of fun for the children and the proximity to local beaches and golf courses meant that adults and children alike had plenty to do. We all liked the village atmosphere- peace, quiet and the sound of the waves meant we all slept extremely well. The back garden was rather small for youngsters to play in so we always had to take them out for a run about.
