The Cornwall region
St. Mellion is a small village in South East Cornwall that is well situated for access to the full range of local facilities. There are restaurants, pubs and shops close by and local estates and farms offer horse riding - as well as fresh local produce such as eggs, cream and pasties!
For those wishing to avoid the hustle and bustle, the traditional fishing villages of Looe and Polperro, with their maze of narrow streets and picturesque harbours, provide a perfect day out.
Nearby there are National Trust properties at Cotehele and Lanhydrock, and slightly further afield, the magnificent Lost Gardens of Heligan and, of course, the world-famous Eden Project.
The region offers excellent walking on Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor and there are superb beaches within a 20-30 minute drive.
Plymouth is within easy reach, with good shops and many interesting places to visit including the Barbican with the National Marine Aquarium and the Hoe with the recently re-opened magnificent Art Deco Tinside Lido.

"Great lodge in lovely setting"
A really well equipped lodge in beautiful woodland...The ideal place to relax with the treasures of Cornwall on your doorstep! If the weather's not great (it was pretty chilly during our stay) the leisure passes for the excellent St Mellion Hotel are invaluable (with 3 pools, sauna, steam room & gym - we were ALL more than happy!). My Husband and I are both golfers and the hotel also has 2 golf courses on site (will definitely be back to play!). Caroline was a great point of contact in answering our queries and ensuring our stay was the best it could possibly be.

"Cottage with an extraodinary view in exceptional location"
I spent here 2 weeks with my familly during Christmas and New Year. I can confidently say that this cottage exceeded my expectations and I was pleased very every aspect of it from small details to views and location... From the balcony, all you can hear are birds siging and a water stream in the forest down the valley. This cottage is charming and in excellent condition. It is located in a wonderful, quiet and semi-wild environment yet easily accessible. Golf fields are within walking distance. The cottage is situated close to many sightseeing attractions. The cottage offers an exceptional view on forests, hills and valleys. The rooms are all en-suite and the kitchen is very well equiped. It is adjacent to a golf and hotel complex. The stay offers free access to the hotel swimming pools, saunas and jacuzzi. Golf membership can be booked from the owners directly. This offers very good value and entertainment. I definetly recommend this to families for a stay as long as two weeks or more...
Delighted to read that you enjoyed your stay and we hope that you visit us again soon. Regards. Caroline

"Fantastic family break in an amazing lodge set in beautiful surroundings, could not have asked for more."
We booked the lodge at Oakridge to celebrate the New Year with my family of five (2 adults and 3 children) and another family (2 adults and an infant). On arrival we were all thrilled with the lodge, exactly as we had imagined it would be, set in beautiful surroundings. The owners had decorated the outside with fairy lights and inside was a real Christmas tree, the children loved these thoughtful touches and it all added to the magic of our stay! The lodge is made up of two twin bedrooms, each with an en suite shower, wash basin and WC, and one double room with a family bathroom including a bath. Staying as two separate families we really appreciated the privacy of these en suites and in my opinion they are a good size. We were delighted to discover the well equipped kitchen with ample crockery, cutlery etc. We cooked daily for 8 with ease in this kitchen, you really do not need to bring anything & the dishwasher was a lifesaver, as was the washing machine, a real luxury!! There was a stair gate & highchair available too which gave peace of mind during our stay. The Lodge is very cosy and heats up quickly without the real fire, but this was lovely to have in the evening. We were not at all cold & stayed during December. Overall we could not have wished for better accommodation or a better location. We had a fantastic break here and could not recommend highly enough, we will definitely be back soon!
Thank you so much for taking the time to feed back to us. Much appreciated and we look forward to welcoming you back. Caroline

"Tastefully decorated, well furnished, great location."
No. 11 Oakridge We stayed at No. 11 Oakridge in early September 2012 and loved it! The first floor (where the living room/kitchen/dinning area are) is tastefully decorated, with modern colours and a high quality finish. The living area is very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. The view from the balcony is stunning! The bedrooms are all ensuite and whilst a little on the small side, they are still comfortable. The downstairs is more traditionally decorated than the first floor, but still of a high quality. The beds were very comfortable, which is always important. I dealt with Caroline when making my booking, who was very helpful, and the whole process was quick and efficient. Things worth noting: - Keys need to be picked up at the St Mellion Hotel Reception which is about 5-7 minutes drive from the lodges - There is a free guest pass to use the gym/pool facilities at the St Mellion Health Club which is a bonus - The internet connection was fairly slow most of the time Overall, we had a great week and will be returning for another stay some time in the future.
Thanks you for taking the time to submit a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back. Regards. Caroline
