Home description
The chalet is a beautifully restored and converted 18th century monks dwelling nestling in the picturesque alpine village of St Jean de Belleville.
Set over a vast expanse of 4 floors, every detail in the 250m2 chalet has been lovingly designed in keeping with its long history from carved wooden staircases to murals on the ceilings, however modern luxuries have not been forgotten from underfloor heating on 2 floors to WIFI internet access and home entertainment system.
The chalet looks out over the valley giving stunning views on all floors through vast opening windows. When it’s a little cold for opening the windows there is a wood burning stove to keep things cosy.
There are 2 reception rooms to relax in as well as a large kitchen and a separate dining room. If the days activities haven’t given you enough fresh air there is also south facing garden and mini balcony facing the setting sun.
The sleeping accommodation is in four double rooms (2 of which can be converted to twin singles), with a stunning master bedroom including a Jacuzzi bath in the bedroom... To complement this each other bedroom has a dedicated bathroom.
Chalet Le Bouquetin is the perfect place to unwind after a hard days skiing, walking, mountain biking or relaxing! We hope you will also have the opportunity to experience its tranquillity.

The Rhone / French Alps / Savoie region
Things to do in the summer:
Whilst the Alps have long been an adrenaline junkies paradise offering a wide variety of activities (mountaineering, climbing, hiking, walking, mountain biking, rafting, horse riding, archery, tennis, swimming pool, fishing, parapenting…to name a few) the wider world are starting to discover the beauty of the mountains in the summer.
Set in the heart of the Parc Vanoise (National Park) St Jean De Bellville offers a perfect base for some sedate strolls and relaxation amongst the jagged peaks, whilst also being able to provide all of the more vigorous (and highly recommended...) activities above.
And just in case you were still missing the snow there is even summer sking up the valley in Val Thorens
Things to do in the winter:
The Trois Valles is the largest and one of the best known ski areas in the world. Not only does it have great expanses of skiing, but also a well linked modern lift system, spectacular views, memorable restaurants and plenty of artificial snow making just in case…
St Martin De Belleville is located in the Belleville valley, next to Les Menuires and Val Thorens, while Meribel & Courchevel are a just short ski across the valleys. All the activities you would expect from world class ski resorts are available as well as some you may not have though of such as dog sleigh outings.
St Martin de Belleville area
St Jean de Belleville is a small hamlet at 1000M in the same valley as St Martin (10 minutes drive with large free car park very close to lift station) which has easy access to the Trois Valles (The largest ski area in the world).
The sleepy hamlet has a fountain, church, post office, captivating views and that’s about it… but don’t worry fresh bread can be delivered to the chalet every morning if required.
It is an easy 2 hour drive from Lyon airport (see getting there) and only 20 minutes from the large shops at Moutiers (St Martin also has a great collection of restaurants and a mini supermarket).
St Martin de Bellville has a new fast cable car to whisk you into the system and a large free car park just next to the lift station. It also has a bustling social calendar with events from fireworks to Jazz festivals though the summer and winter.
How to get there
Flying: There are regular international flights Lyon and Geneva throughout the year served by several airlines. Both are about a 2 hour drive from the chalet, and have all the usual car hire facilities you would expect at international airports.
Whilst the roads are cleared regularly you should get chains (and know how to put them on!) as it is a legal requirement to have them in France on mountain roads when it is snowing or has recently snowed.
Driving: The chalet is 8-9 hours from the channel ports or Eurotunnel (There is an overnight ferry to Le Havre that gives a good head start and has decent sleeping seats / cabins)
Train: The winter Eurostar service runs non stop overnight Friday night and Saturday daytime service during the ski season to Moutiers (about 20 minutes drive form the chalet). There are also regular SNCF services via Paris
Transfers: For transfers to and from all the gateway Airports and Rail Stations we recommend Mountain Express. Mountain Express is based in the village and they offer a very competitive tariff so it is essential to book your transfers as soon as you book your flights/rail tickets. When contacting them, please use the booking request procedure to the right of the tariff chart at www.mountainexpress.co.uk/belleville.html and state that you are staying at Chalet Le Bouqeutin in order to gain preferential booking over their general internet enquiries. They are also able to provide a local “taxi” service to neighbouring resorts.
