The pool, 10m x 5m and with Roman Steps, is heated to at least 28 degrees. There are no time restrictions on the use of the Pool, although we, the owners, like to cover the pool in the late evening so that, in conjunction with the heat pump, the pool is kept warm for the following morning.

Further details outdoors

Les Deux Chenes, The Farmhouse is reached via a small drive off a country lane, where there is plenty of safe parking space. You will only have to carry your cases and shopping a few metres into the house.

We are situated in a tiny hamlet with 4 other properties. Apart from our very few neighbours, you will usually only hear farm vehicles going about their daily or seasonal business.

Our tennis court is beyond the front garden, whilst the swimming pool is in the back garden, thus you should not be disturbed by the sound of tennis balls being hit whilst relaxing around the pool.

Our heated pool, 10m x 5m with roman steps is open late May - late September inclusive.

On the East side of the property there are uninterrupted views across the fields to the hill-top village of Le Puy Notre Dame where you will find our nearest restaurants.

Further details

The kitchen will be supplied with a few items such as dishwasher tablets, cling film, aluminium film, and washing up liquid, to start you off with.

Although our holiday property is great for children, it is not ideal for 'very' young children (under the age of 5) .

Smoking is only allowed outside.

I do ask that music is not played outdoors nor audible outdoors.

Finally, I do request that prospective clients make an enquiry before they book; customer satisfaction is very important to me and I do wish to assure myself that my gite is exactly what you're expecting and will be right for you.

Thank you .

About this location

The Pays de la Loire region

This region is known as the garden of France - it is vinyards, farmland and countryside. The Anjou area produces white, rose, and surprisingly good red wines. Next to or not very far away are the wine areas of:-

Saumur, Touraine, Chinon, and just the other side of Tours, Vouvray.

We buy most of our wine from our local viticulturist in the village of Bouille-Loretz, where a wine tasting evening can take up to a very enjoyable 2 hours, with the viticulturist speaking English, showing you where and how the wine is processed and able to answer all your questions.

St Macaire du Bois

Saumur, our nearest large town and built around the River Loire, has its own stunning Chateau. In addition, it is the largest producer of sparkling wine after the champagne region, and you can visit the many wine houses in Saumur.

Also on the outskirts of Saumur is the national riding school which trains horses for the military as well as for displays. You can see the horses in their stables and see them being trained.

Not far away from here is Verrie where a 3 day event is organised in May every year and often attended by top world ranked riders.

In the same area is Saumur Golf Club - a very attractive and interesting 9 hole course where they welcome visitors as well as the air-field where you may be able to train to do a parachute jump.

Saumur also has a military tank museum full of different types from different countries.

Saumur does not have any large shopping areas, but has lanes full of small boutique type shops. However

it has lots of bars and restaurants, many of which are of international flavour.

We will give you a list of all the local markets whilst you are here, and information of local festivals in the surrounding villages and towns.

Montreuil-Bellay, 8 miles from us, has a very old chateau with guided tours. Down by the river Thouet you can hire kayaks in the afternoons in the summer.

Thouars, 10 miles south of us, is a very old market town with an excellent market on a Friday morning.
