This is a spacious one bedroom gîte. Downstairs there is a large open plan lounge/dining room and kitchen; two large chairs easily open into 2 very comfortable single-beds. A wooden staircase leads to the generous double bedroom and bathroom with shower, bath, toilet and wash hand basin.Outside the gite has its own parking area and a private garden with patio, table and chairs and B.B.Q.

Situated between two villages it is a haven of peace and quiet yet is only ten minutes drive from Saint Lo where a wide selection of shops, restaurants and markets can be found.

Also in Saint Lo there are sport facilities including golf, squash, canoeing, kayaking, tennis and a new indoor and outdoor swimming pool. Saint Lo is famous as a horse breeding centre and there are often horse shows and competitions.

Our gite is very convenient for visiting the Normandy landing beaches and the many museums. Bayeux with its wonderful cathedral and tapestry and Le Mont Saint Michel are also nearby as too are many activity parks, zoological gardens and chateaux. The area is renowned for its wild life and there are numerous coastal walks or in the nearby Cerisy forest.

The ports of Caen (Ouistreham) and Cherbourg ,where Brittany Ferries operate, are about one hours drive away and Le Havre used by L.D.Lines is about a two hour drive. The drive from the tunnel, Calais and Boulogne is about four hours and Dinard airport used by Ryanair is about an hour and a half away.

Our local railway station (Lison about ten mins away) is on the line from Paris to Cherbourg and provides quick access to Bayeux, Caen and Rouen.

"Faded glory!"

Ella is potentially a wonderful Gite, spacious with a good bedroom and bathroom.
The kitchen was a big disappointment. Dirty shelves and cooking utensils. There was a dishwasher which was repaired part way through our stay however it was impractical to use it as there was only sufficient crockery and cutlery for 2 meals which would have meant using it twice daily. The stove exhaust fan filters were clogged with grease and the light did not work.
The advertised TV was not connected and there was no WiFi although the host did allow us to use his computer.
Outside the garden has run amok.
Attention to detail would restore this Gite to living up to its advertised qualities.

It is a sad fact of life that dishwashers break down. This one broke down on the Saturday, the local repairer came the same day and ordered the part. On the Tuesday, the part came and the dishwasher was repaired. It is not clear to me why this is not evidence of diligence rather than negligence. I defy anyone to have done better.
The TV is for videos. We offer a choice of over 200 DVDs. Enough screen size entertainment for any taste.
The remark about WIFI is, how can we put it, a tad ungenerous. There is NO intimation ANYWHERE that WIFI is available in the gîte. Why then should any guest expect it? Not only that, but we allow our guests, as mentioned, to use our own computer in our own house, for their convenience. Would a little gratitude not have been more fitting? Our guest discloses that we open our own house to offer services that ARE NOT ADVERTISED. And he still finds the heart to complain. There are indeed few better unwitting advertisements.
We are told also that the gîte is spacious, the bedding comfortable and the bathroom perfectly clean, a wonderful gîte. Not so bad then?
So where did we fall down? A couple of 'dirty' shelves, a 'dirty' fan filter, not enough cutlery, and no light in the oven.
Well, these have been remedied, as they would have been on the spot had they been mentioned there and then.
'Faded glory'? Certainly not.
