Winding your way up the narrow, white painted staircase you are immediately greeted by the sound of the sea. The main living room and kitchen area is open planned, with access to the roof terrace via glass doors that can be fully folded, to create an alfresco feel. The cosy, snug cabin styled bedroom has a porthole window with views to the sea and the comfortably sized bathroom has a feature roll top bath with shower attachment. The soft furnishings are a stylish mix of contemporary and vintage.
A welcome hamper is included. This consists of bacon, eggs, loaf butter, juice and milk .Special dietary requirements can be catered for.
Guests please note the property is situated at the top of a 5 storey building (73 stairs) - there is no elevator and the last flight of steps inside the flat are steep with narrow tread...there is no handrail.
The quirky style of the bedroom means that there is restricted access in and out of the bed. For the majority of guests this adds an element of fun but please hold this mind when placing your booking. This property is not suitable for guests with restricted mobility. Storage is limited so travel light where possible.

There is free parking about a 5 minute walk, or pay and display meters on the seafront or all day parking in St Margaret's Road.
Check in time is usually from 3pm onwards but if no guests leaving on day of arrival then I'm more than happy to be flexible to allow entry earlier. Keys are to be collected from my shop Bobo Flower and Garden Shop a short distance from the property. If arriving after hours please let me know for alternative arrangements.
Check out time is by Midday.
The East Sussex region
The South East of England is rich in history and places of interests offering a wealth of opportunities to explore the region in depth. The South has good links to London and is within easy access to Ashford International Station and the Channel Tunnel.
St Leonards on Sea
Hastings is a town of two halves. The modern side offering good shopping facilities and a range of amenities including a library, a sports centre, outdoor tennis courts and a delightful town park with lake fishing, all within walking distance of the main town centre. The Old Town has a rich maritime history and has many tales of smuggling stories of long ago. Some of the medieval houses still have tunnels leading down to the beach which were used by the gangs. Here you can browse around the quirky individual shops or simply enjoy a drink in the numerous eateries on offer. Freshly caught fish can be purchased at the local fish market boasting one of the few remaining beach launched fleets in Europe.
St Leonards offers a slightly slower pace to the hustle and bustle of the new town. Here you can view the many art galleries and the tiny shops selling vintage and pre-loved goods. St Leonards Gardens is well worth a visit to enjoy a quiet stroll in the elegant setting, which is host to open air performances and concerts in the summer months.

"The view is just priceless"
What a great week in Hastings! Marcie was very kind & helpfull. The parking of the car was easier than exspected (Warrior Square, St. Margarets Road). The flat itself - well eqipped, cosy & quiet - was like an island in the sky with fantastic views. A constantly changing light, sea & sky. Hastings & the surrounding area were very interesting (the fishing boats on the beach, Jerwood Gallery, the Hill Lifts, the nice, small shops & galleries in St. Leonhards & in the Old Town, De La Warr Pavillon in Bexhill etc.), also an excellent starting point for combined train & cycle tours along the coast (Bexhill, Eastbourne, Rye, Romney Marsh, Dungeness). We enjoyed everything very much & will come back next year.

"Gorgeous and peaceful penthouse with stunning views"
What can we say? It was idyllic. Just walking through the front door and hearing the sea was blissful. The penthouse was kitted out in everything we needed for the weekend, and the breakfast hamper was brilliant! Marcie was the ultimate host making you feel at home the moment she handed over the keys. We will definitely be back!

"Peaceful romantic retreat"
A big thank-you to Marcie for allowing us to share La Petite Penthouse and for the yummy welcome hamper.
We stayed for New Year; the first couple of days were filled with gales, but as if by magic on New Year's Eve they disappeared and we were able to see in the New Year on the balcony watching a variety of firework displays.
New Year's Day was glorious and we were able open the French Windows wide and enjoy the sunshine sitting on the balcony.
We ate well, slept well, caught up on our reading, watched DVDs, explored local roads, shops, cafes and restaurants. We finally headed home with our batteries recharged, ready for the rest of 2013 and full of warm memories of a lovely peaceful romantic retreat.

We have never believed in magic, still don't, but came so close to changing our minds when we stayed in the penthouse. If it wasn't for the dreaded staircase !!
Still -it was just an absolutely truely magical place, *****

This apartment is truly lovely, and such a warm welcome from Marcie on arrival! The apartment is a very modern penthouse which looks over the sea. The balcony made this apartment a real gem. The apartment is compact and cosy with enough room for 2. The roll top bath was amazing- very deep and relaxing. The apartment is a 10 minute walk along the seafront to Hastings; such a lovely town. I would recommend this apartment to couples who want a relaxing weekend away- it makes for a very romantic getaway.

"A blissful retreat"
This beautiful penthouse is just what the doctor ordered! Not only are the views stunning but the appartment itself is beautifully and tastefully decorated but homely at the same time. Every thing you might need has been provided...with a few little luxuries in addition! It is totally private and peaceful, ideal for a few days R and R as in my case or a romantic retreat for couples. I reckon its very good value and will certainly be returning at a later date. Full marks to Marcie for all the thoughtful touches!

"A compact but beautifully finished, seafront, "penthouse"flat"
Welcomed by the owners friend, outside the property, who handed us keys & a few tips. A delightful sea front flat. Compact but beautifully kept with many personal touches to make you feel welcome. A short walk into Hastings (but who wants to when you can sit on the balcony and watch the world go by). In warmer weather it is possible to fold back the front windows completely ,effectively bringing the living space and the balcony into one. We had a wonderful weekend here and are determined to repeat our visit.

"Relaxing stay in a top class apartment with amazing views"
Stayed for a weeekend break to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. Apt. was spotless and very well equpped. Perfect for 2 people. Furnishings/fittings top class. All the extras Marcie supplied were brilliant and made us feel very special - just what we wanted. The views are amazing - especially on a sunny day. Marcie was so very helpful which made the booking process very simple. She is a lovely friendly lady with excellent taste and she seems to really care. We are intending to go back soon - if she can fit us in. We had a fantastic meal in the Dragon bar in the old town (Hastings) and a lovely meal in Bistro 45 (Bexhill on Sea). Thanks Marcie - we hope to see you again soon.

"Would definitley book again, had a fantastic weekend away"
Had a very warm welcome, such a beautiful little penthouse in the sky. Perfect for couples needing some R&R. With fantastic veiws over the sea and lovely walks to Hastings with all the little quaint shops and Bexhill-on-sea for a pub lunch. Woke up to snow during our weekend away which was very romantic. Breakfast hamper was provided and beautifully presented couldn't have asked for more. We will be booking again, would be recommending this perfect little hide away to all our friends.

The Petite Penthouse is the perfect getaway if you are looking to escape and relax in a beautiful apartment, whilst still being in a town and close to the attractions of 1066 Country. Marcie gives you the warmest welcome and makes checking in and out so easy. She also provides a lovely hamper with fresh local produce which means you don't need to rush out in the morning, although if you wanted to there are lots of little deli's and cafes nearby.
The apartment is clean, bright and full of beautiful finishing touches that make it feel like a home from home. The kitchen is well equiped and there is a good size bath which makes a change! I am definitely hoping to return in the near future.
