This apartment has been designed by us essentially as a romantic holiday home on the seafront where you can chill indoors and watch the sea or visit as many of the site as you please. It is listed as sleeping up to 4 but is ideal for 2 as it only has one very large double bedroom (room for a further 2 on the sofa bed in the sitting room if necessary).

We have lovingly designed it as a homage to the Art Deco Era of the 1930's which is when the building itself was built. It is a contemporary apartment with all modern conveniences but with Art Deco touches to remind you of the origins of the building. We want you to love it, tell your friends and come back and stay with us again so be prepared for something special when you get here.

Hastings and the surrounding areas is a location rich in historical interests. Visit the site of the Battle of Hastings, Battle and many local castles (Hastings, Bodiam, Pevensey and many others) in pursuit of the history deeply embedded here. A slow amble along the beautiful streets of the old town and around the unusual old timber fishing huts at the far East end of the town, will fill your lungs with the smells of the sea. Enjoying a tub of fresh sea-food from a stall while you walk. Walkers and hikers love this area.

East Cliff has some amazing ambles along coastal pathways as well as others inland. The gardens open to the public are really special in this area, as well historic Rye and Bexhill on Sea a short drive away. For families, the beach on a sunny day is always fun, with 'Pitch n Putt and go carts on the sea front & all the seaside amusements on tap. For golfers there are many courses nearby including Sedlescombe and the The Beauport Park 18 hole Championship Golf Course

Other Activities: Historic Sites, Castles, Public Gardens, Walkers and Ramblers routes along the coast

Golf: The Beauport Park 18 Hole Championship Golf course is a short drive from the centre of Hastings, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just outside the centre of Battle. There is also a 9 Hole pitch and Putt course here and there are other Golf Courses in Camber, Sedlescombe and Cooden Beach Golf Club (Bexhill) nearby. Novice golfers and youngsters may enjoy the Pitch and Putt on the sea-front at Hastings!

The Azur Restaurant (just across the road) at the Marina Pavilion is a great venue for Weddings, Parties, etc etc as well as a lovely seafront Restaurant, Cafe and Bar and is just a minutes walk away, so plan your next big event and stay at the Apartment! The Ghurkha Restaurant (5 minute walk along the seafront towards Hastings) if you like Indian Cuisine, is probably the best in Hastings and the staff are lovely too!

Other Interests:-

Bexhill's De La Warr Pavilion with the ever changing art exhibitions is a 'must see' if you get the chance! Renovated in recent years it is a wonderful example of 1930's architecture and is great to see restored again after many years of neglect.

Day trips to go and see the largest enclosed Marina (Sovereign Harbour) at Eastbourne and the lovely old town in Rye. Canterbury and Brighton are also lovely places to go with historic interest as well as enough to entertain all the family!

St Leonards on Sea

Local Activities: There is a lot to see in Hastings to keep you busy for many days. Whether you wish to explore the many historic locations around this area in: Battle, Rye and Bexhill-on-sea, or prefer to enjoy the coastline and take some leisurely walks, you will be assured that you can do it all based in this wonderful location.

Hastings is one of Britain's oldest fishing ports. Fishing boats have worked from the beach in front of the old town for over a thousand years and are now a tourist attraction. The Fisherman's Museum contains one of these fishing boats and the building was constructed around it

Nearby Castles and Forts can be found at: Pevensey, Herstmonceux, Scotney, Bodiam and Camber. The Bodiam Castle in particular is a well preserved and beautiful castle with a moat in a lovely river location.

There are also many amazing festivals around this area throughout the year, which are well-worth attending, showing how vibrant this community can be.

Hastings enjoys loads of sun in the summer.

Seaside and Seafood Fare: Hastings is one of only a few of the old style fishing locations where you will see every day the fishing vessels hauled onto the beach after the early morning fish. As a result the Fish and Chips in any of the local sea front cafes/restaurants is about as fresh as it could be. Some sellers along the front sell cups of shelled prawns, clams, cockles and other types of seafood for you to enjoy. The fish shop nestled amongst the Fisherman's Wharf (the old black timber constructions), is definitely worth a visit and is fun for children to see all the varieties available.

A favourite restaurant is Cosmo's (Chinese/Asian) on the Sea-front. Enjoy an all you can eat buffet while a Teppanyaki chef cooks your choice of fresh food while you wait. Other Asian delights of Sushi and the usual Duck pancakes, tiger prawns etc are on offer and there is even chicken nuggets and chips for the less adventurous in your party. Definitely worth a visit after a day of working up an appetite at the seaside!

Leisure Activities/Tourist Attractions: Hastings Aquarium,

Fisherman's Museum,

Pitch n' Putt (sea-front),

Great Dixter House and Gardens (Rye),

Bodiam Castle (Robertsbridge),

Merriments Gardens (Hurst Green)

Pevensey Castle,

Battle Abbey and Battlefield,

De La Warr Pavillion (Bexhill–on-Sea),

WALKS: The Coastal Path and the Country Park walks are stunning as well as walks around the town. Walk from the top of East Cliff down the windy road and you will get to the historic old town with some truly wonderful old buildings to marvel at and enjoy, many still characterful residences to this day!

CYCLING: there is a wonderful cycle path route along the entire length of the sea-front on the promenade (soon to extend to Bexhill) – be prepared though for oblivious pedestrians to amble across your path!

"Check before booking this apartment!"

We stayed in this apartment over Christmas, and were horrified to find out the night before arrival that the building has scaffolding and plastic sheeting covering this flat, completely obscuring the … More

I am very sorry this was a disappointing stay for you - I really am as you are aware.

We did give you a FULL refund despite you staying 3 nights before you decided to leave and I do totally appreciate you being horrified by the plastic obscuring the view out of the windows, which I was not aware of myself until you sent me the photos!

We will not be taking any bookings anyway for this flat until the scaffolding is down and restored to normality, it would not be fair and is not the way we operate our business.

However if anyone does want to stay during this time, this place is an absolute bargain as the price will be 50% of the listed price for the duration until the scaffolding is removed!

The fact remains as you concur, that it is a beautiful apartment, so anyone not too bothered by the lack of view, could still have a lovely stay. We did in fact have someone to stay directly after you who was made completely aware of the situation (I even forwarded your photos) and they were happy to stay anyway and had a lovely time.

Again, big apologies. This is the first time a booking has gone wrong and I am so sorry that it happened to you and at Christmas, a very unfortunate situation. However as I gather you were visiting family and were not there during the day-time anyway, I hope that you did not let it spoil it too much for you.

"Happy in Hastings"

A very enjoyable weekend in a beautiful, well situated overlooking the sea, tastefully decorated in keeping with the Art Deco building. Everything we needed was provided including tea coffee and sugar fortunately left by previous occupants. A handily situated small convenience store was enough for our requirements, also just across the road was a very good restaurant -Azure- in which we had superb dishes of mussels.
Having not been back to Hastings in over 50 years it was good to see the changes for the better. Lovely looking around the old town going up in the cliff top lift, and to top it all superb weather was provided.

Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so pleased that you had a lovely stay - please come back!
