The West Country region

West Cornwall, or Penwith, is the 'Undiscovered Cornwall.' A stunning coastline, soft climate, hidden beaches, sub-tropical gardens, tiny fishing harbours, sea and bird life, ancient field systems, artists studios and galleries, cliff-top theatre, local festivals.

Whether you are interested in walking, cycling, archaeology, tin mining history, beaching, surfing, climbing, or the Arts, it's all here.

St Just

Peters Cottage is close to the coastal footpath, but still only a few minutes stroll from Pendeen centre where there is a well-stocked village store, post office, two friendly pubs with good food, a fish and chip shop, coffee shop, a week-day internet centre, a regular Farmer's Market, and a good local bus service up and down the coast - tho' more limited in winter months - and to Penzance for train and bus connections.

St. Just is two miles down the coastal road from Peters Cotttage, it has everything you would expect from the last town in mainland England! Organic butchers, hairdressers, chinese take-away, a cash-point, galleries full of local art, as well as the excellent Cook Book cafe/bookshop, the Dog and Rabbit for good food and ambiance, and a range of pubs with food and entertainment.

St. Ives, an international artists' centre, home to the Tate St. Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden, is 11 miles up the stunning Atlantic coast. Penzance overlooking St. Michael's Mount in the beautiful Mount's Bay, is only 7 miles away on the South coast, with Newlyn and Mousehole ancient fishing ports, and the open-air Minack Theatre just down the coast towards Land's End. The National Maritime Museum is an hour away at Falmouth, and the Eden Project is accessible on a day trip to St Austell.

Cornwall's delicious pasties are famous, but menus also often feature locally caught fish; the Gurnards Head Hotel and Tinners Arms at Zennor are on the fantastic North coast between Peters Cottage and St. Ives - as featured in Richard Wilson's Best Drives Series!

"The ideal place for exploring Cornwall"

Peters Cottage is Cosy it could not be better placed to enjoy walks along the coastal path (just out of the door and turn right), St Ives, Penzance, Lands End and all the other delightful places that Cornwall offers. There is also aconvenient local shop.I stayed here with my husband at the begining of October, the cottage was just right for the 2 of us and Norman the dog (aged 7 months). Despite our late arrival Gilliamwas there to meet us with a warm welcoming smile. We spent the week relaxing, walking on the costal path and the beaches. We visited the Cornish tin mines and other interesting sites. Peters is a great place to return to after a busy day. The garden is ideal and we would have used it more had the temperature been a few degrees higher! All conveniences are kindly provided by Gill and Tim, lovely fluffy towels and a comfy bed. BLISS. We will return ....Ronnie beware!!

We are delighted when our visitors enjoy being at Peters Cottage - It's close to the Atlantic coast and so their experience is elemental - big seas, cliff-top walking but coming home to a warm, welcoming cottage - Within minutes walk of the village; Pendeen pubs and community - West Cornwall at its best!
