The Cornwall region

The far West of Cornwall is dotted with the remnants of the tin mining industry. Geevor tin mine at Pendeen is well worth a visit as is the restored beam engine at the Levant mine at Botallack which steams daily during the summer and is lovingly maintained by the National Trust. You'll also hear the tale of the terrible tragedy at the mine that shook Cornwall.

If you bring your dog, or if you are a rambler, you will find numerous byways and footpaths to explore. Also, there is the South West coast path which is easily accessible from St, Just. From there, the walk to Lands End is breathtaking. Alternatively, you could walk to St. Ives and pass Clodgey point, where many a ship was wrecked in fog and renowned locally as the inspiration for John Carpenter's "The Fog".

Of course, you couldn't come to Cornwall without sampling the miner's lunch .... the pasty. ;)

St Just

St. Just is often described as the last true Cornish town. It's welcoming to holidaymakers, but still retains its true Cornish character. It may also be called the last town in England, because of its proximity to Lands End. Beaches at Sennen Cove or St. Ives can be reached by car or open top bus (summer only). For those prepared to use their feet, the beach at Portheras Cove can be reached via the South West coast path in the direction of Pendeen. It's more than worth the walk!

"Delightful, comfortable, spacious cottage conveniently situated in a lovely town"

St Just in Penwith is an ideal base for exploring West Cornwall. With four hostelries, several very good food shops and a couple of takeaways we found no need to have to go any further for our shopping. Grace cottage is lovely with a very well designed interior. A traditional stone built cottage it has something of a tardis like interior with a big kitchen with plenty of space for our labrador/springer dog to sleep and a very good sized living room. The bedrooms are of a good size and there is plenty of storage for holiday clothes. The cottage is very well equipped and as a couple with a dog we found it suited us perfectly. The garden at the front of the house is a brilliant sun-trap in the afternoons and being only a 5 minute walk from the town centre the cottage is perfectly situated. We would certainly hope to return for another holiday in the future.

We're glad to hear you had a great time in St. Just and enjoyed staying in our cottage. You are more than welcome to return any time, of course.
