Chez Charmaux is a tastefully renovated traditional french farmhouse, with original oak beams, and log burning fire,fully modernised facilities but retaining its original period charm, set in 50 acres of rolling green countryside ,and positioned in the owners small personal hamlet only 2 minutes drive from St Junien, and close to many other market towns, Totally private and only 400m from the river Vienne, where fishing is available for barbel, chub, carp, bream etc (licence required) the owners keep a small flock of sheep,as well as geese, ducks and chickens which can be made available on request (for petting, feeding etc). At present use is available of a 5m diametre above ground splash pool, Wild live abounds on the property and it is possible to see wild deer, boar, and many bird species such as buzzard, falcon, woodpecker etc. Many local towns/villages hold traditional markets on various days of the week, and if you prefer a large city Limoges with all its attractions including Limoges pottery factory is only 30km away. There is a top quality golf course , St Junien Golf, 5 mins drive from the property which welcomes visitors, and also hires clubs etc. at a very reasonable rate,

The Limousin / Auvergne / Haute-Vienne region
Haute-Vienne is rolling green countryside with many lakes and is an heavily wooded region, in many ways not unlike north Yorkshire, there are many historical sites of interest including the route of Richard the Lionheart, the village of the massacre at oradour sur glane, sites of Roman-Gallo ruins, Roman baths and many spectacular châteaux, the weather in summer is generally dry and warm 30-35 degrees.
St Junien area
St Junien is a large market town, famous for its glove making industry. It boasts all the major supermarkets, a first class hospital (hope its never needed), many good restaurants, bars and cafes, there is a market every Saturday, with a extended large market on the 3rd Saturday of every month.
Chez Charmaux is situated less than 5 minutes from the Market town of St Junien, less than 25 minutes to the city of Limoges and Limoges airport. Both St Junien and Limoges boast many fine restaurants, excellent shopping facitilities not to mention galleries, museums and local outlets. Rochechouart with many leisure lakes, Chateaux, Roman baths and other sites of historical and beauty value is only a 10 minute drive away. We are perfectly situated to explore all Haute Vienne has to offer.
Local Activities: Fishing, cycling, walking, golf facilities are all a short distance from Chez Charmaux or just unwind and relax in the peaceful and tranquil surroundings for the day.
The surrounding area has many leisure lakes and man made beaches for all the family, Haute Vienne was also the region that Richard the Lionheart led his campaigns and there are a number of châteaux to explore.
Ordador Sur Glane is a short drive away, on Saturday the 10th of June 1944 soldiers of the Der Führer Regiment of the 2nd Waffen-SS Panzer Division Das Reich killed a total of 642 men, women and children without giving any reasons for their actions and to this day there is no universally accepted explanation for the massacre, the town has been left as it was that day and has its own museum and guided tours. The surrounding area boasts a large selection of activities to keep you and the family busy during your stay not mention the large choice of bars and restaurants to choose from.

Large selection of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. we keep a flock of free range poultry, and fresh eggs are available on request.
