The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region

The Stunning Haute Savoie region of France covers much of the French Alps, encompassing over 100 ski resorts. With its proximity to Geneva, a major international airport with regular flights to the UK. The area is popular throughout the year with winter and summer sports and activities.
The St Jean d'Aulps / La Moussiere area
The village of La Grande Terche is a small but charming Alpine village, with a handful of bars and restaurants catering to most tastes of cuisine and atmosphere. It is close to the village of St. Jean d'Aulps, which has 3 additional restaurants and bars as well as bakers, butchers, grocery and other stores.
For those seeking a faster paced night out, the nearby town of Morzine is a short distance away with a large number of bars & restaurants, as well as a number of nightclubs. There are countless restaurants located on beautiful lakes, or within charming villages nearby.
This area of the French Alps offers many summer activities, including hiking, climbing, mountain biking, road biking, swimming, relaxing on the beach (at one of the many lake-side beaches), paragliding, white water rafting, pony trekking, golf, - as well as 'Fantasticable' (a cable strung between two mountain tops), and countless other sports and hill-focused activities. The ski lift network opens for much of the summer.
Being only 30 minutes from Lake Geneva (Thonon, Evian), guests can split their time between the mountains and the beaches, bars and restaurant of the Lake Geneva. The medieval town of Yvoire is well worth a day trip.

My friends and I spent a week in Chalet Pantouffle, and absolutely loved it. Compared to other (similarly priced) chalets, Pantouffle felt noticably more luxurious. The main thing for me was space:... more |

We wouldn't normally have thought of St Jean D'Aulps as a location, normally preferring larger and higher resorts, but a friend recommended it and we are really glad they did. The resort... more |

Guestbook for Chalet Pantouffle
We all had a fantastic time, really enjoyed lac montriond, the kids had a great time in the waterfall and swimming lake. We also went to the market in Morzine on Wednesday, great for local produce, gifts, etc… We didn’t really get out much for dinners, however we did go to L’Auberge de la Terche several times, really enjoyed the local specialities in great surroundings. Worth mentioning to guests that the multipass is worth purchasing if you are planning to go on more than one telecabin or chairlift in a day, the multipass also gives you free entry to the swimming pool in Morzine and many other activities in the area. We really enjoyed the mechanical music museum in Les Gets it is also included and really interesting for adults and children.
Both families really couldn’t fault your Chalet, it worked great for us as our friends had the top floor with their two children, we slept on the ground floor and our three children slept in the bunk room.

Hi Zazie
Thanks for returning the deposit so quickly. We had a great week in your chalet; it’s a lovely spot and we did some very scenic walks, including a couple from the top of the telecabine and one up to the Tavaillon; thanks for the suggestions. The walks leaflets in the file were useful; we also picked up another (free) booklet of walks from the telecabine which was very useful (sorry, we took it with us in case of a future return); there was also a very useful map on the back of a leaflet advertising Restaurant Licorne and we (belatedly) saw a good walk map in the tourist information office.
We had breakfast at Le Mitron in St Jean most mornings (I now need to wean myself off daily pain au raisins) and tried various restaurants (Pere Bill, Rufus, L’Amandier) but particularly enjoyed lunch in the one at Graydon and La Tavaillon.
Enjoy your visit – it’s a lovely chalet – though you’ll have fun once your baby becomes mobile!
With best wishes
Nicola

Hi Zazie
We had a fabulous time at your chalet. It was more beautiful and perfect than described on the website! Thanks for letting us stay the week. A few co-workers have asked for the details so they can maybe book next summer, hope you don't mind!
Again, many thanks. You guys are so lucky to have that as your retirement home. We hope to maybe visit again one day.
Kind Regards
Martha & Julie

Dear Zazie and Ian
We had such a fantastic holiday. Your chalet is wonderful, and the location stunning. We have tired the whole family out, and come back with resolutions to keep even fitter.
Thank you for your help and advice in planning the trip. The welcome pack was invaluable.
We will be back!
Kind regards
Pat Wall
