Home description
This traditional style, refurbished Savoyard chalet is set back from a quiet road in a little french alpine village in the northern French Alps on the edge of the Portes du Soleil ski area. Great for those who want a change of pace from being in a resort town - a great location for winter skiing holidays or summer mountain vacations. But the alps are not just for skiing! Come and stay at the chalet in spring or summer and walk our personal and hand-picked selection of mountain trails.
The chalet offers modern en suite comfort in four spacious bedrooms, it has a large, very well equipped kitchen, and a spacious open plan area with a large dining table for up to 12 people, a huge log-burning stove with fuel provided and comfy sofa's to relax around the fire. We don't skimp on the details and the chalet is not sparse and unwelcoming like many self catering homes: Big beds, big bathrooms, two pillows per person, large towels... The owner lives close by and therefore, is available to give help and advice about your holiday.

The Rhone / French Alps / Haute-Savoie region
This is a beautiful and largely unspoilt area of the French Alps which offers a summer climate to rival that of the mediterranean. In winter, the Portes du Soleil offers one of the largest linked skiing areas in the world.
St Jean d'Aulps area
The chalet is approx. 7 miles from the town of Morzine, in the centre of the "Portes du Soleil" ski domain. This is one of the largest interconnected ski area in the world and boasts 628kms of pistes, 288 marked slopes, 209 ski lifts and covers 8 French ski resorts and 6 Swiss resorts. Beginners and children are well catered for, not only in the larger resorts of Morzine-Avoriaz or Les Gets, but also in the nearby ski resorts of Drouzin le Mont or St Jean d’Aulps. For summer activities, Lake Geneva is approx. 20 kilometres away. There are several beaches on the shores of the lake, both at Thonon-les-Bains and its more famous neighbour, Evian-les-Bains. Additionally, there is an 18-hole golf course in the town of Les Gets, which is approx. 16 kilometres from the chalet. Parapenting, kayaking, Climbing and mountain biking are all available in Morzine: much of the ski-lift system remains open in summer to access the mountains at altitude, for cyclists and walkers alike. The spectacular Pont de Diable (Devils Gorge), is only 2 kilometres from the chalet. Lake Geneva and the spa towns of Thonon-les-Bains and Evian-les-Bains are approx 20 kilometres away. There is a supermarket with petrol/carwash facility 6 kilometres away from the chalet. The village of le Biot, which is within walking distance of the chalet, has a restaurant/bar, bakery, post office/tourist office and tennis courts. The village of St. Jean D'Aulps is approx. 5 kilometres away and boasts one of the finest restaurants in the valley! The town of Morzine, as well as being at the heart of the Portes du Soleil ski area, has extensive shops and boutiques, a sports centre, tennis courts and banking facilities.

The nearest airport is Geneva, which is about 75 minutes drive away. British Airways, EasyJet, Flybe, BMI Baby and Ryan Air all fly to Geneva from most UK airports. The area can also be reached via TGV from Paris to Thonon-les-Bains, which is about 20 minutes drive away. From the channel tunnel/ferry port of Calais, the chalet can be reached in about 9 hours, using the French motorway system for almost the entire route.
