Home description
The light and airy house is a perfect base to explore the region. It is situated in the historic market town of St. Jean D’Angely and is within walking distance of the many bars, restaurants and shops.
The house consists of an open plan kitchen and living room which has French doors opening onto a private terrace and garden – ideal for long summer al fresco dining.
Upstairs are two large double bedrooms. The master bedroom is equipped with a large king-size bed and plenty of storage. The second bedroom is furnished with two single beds. The new shower and wash basin are located within the second bedroom. There is a separate WC.
A cellar houses the washing machine and gives the space to dry washing on the occasional wet day.
The house has been completely refurnished this year and is tastefully decorated. With gas central heating and double glazing the property lends itself to all year round letting.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente Maritime region
CHARENTE MARITIME is an Atlantic coastal region of South West France. It is reputed to be the second sunniest after the Côte d’Azur with around 2600 hours of sunshine a year. The summers are long and the temperatures usually warm from mid April to late October making this area an ideal choice for early and late season beaks as well as during the long hot summer months.
Even during the warm summer months, at the height of the holiday season, the roads are quiet, allowing you to explore all the attractions of this beautiful region - the old Roman towns and churches, the local markets, the small villages beside the Charente and Boutonne rivers, the fields of vineyards and sunflowers. Try popping into one of the many producers of our local drinks - Pineau des Charentes and Cognac for a little 'degustation' (tasting).
Many beautiful sandy beaches can be found around the region such as at Fouras, La Rochelle, Royan and Chatillion Plage all well cared for and with their own character.
St Jean d'Angely area
The house is a five minute walk from the centre of St. Jean D’Angely which is a typically French picturesque market town. It has an excellent market each Saturday & Wednesday morning as well as large fair on the third Saturday of each month. There are many restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shops to explore as well as quaint squares and ancient architecture.
A large lake next to the river Boutonne offers the opportunity for fishing and hiring pedal boats and its surrounding park is a great place for a walk and a picnic. The large swimming complex of Atlantys will keep the children happy for hours.
The house is an excellent base for exploring some other towns of the Charente Maritime.
Saintes is only 20 minutes away and offers further options for dining out and shopping as well as exploring its Roman amphitheatre and hiring boats to explore the beautiful river Charente.
Congac with its beautiful architecture, history, restaurants and shops offers an excellent day out which must include a tour and a tasting at one of the large famous cognac houses. Jazz & Blues festivals are also held annually here.
La Rochelle, Ile D’Ré and Rochefort are also worth the trip to go to soak up their unique charming characters and to enjoy local specialities such as mussels, oysters & enormous sea food platters straight from the sea.
The attractively laid out zoo outside Royan allows for a really close encounter with the animals and at the 'Valley of the Monkeys' at Romagne, south of Poitiers, you can stroll through a beautiful park and discover 30 different species of monkeys and watch them being fed.
Futuroscope theme park can be found just over an hour away at Poitiers for an exciting family day out.
