Donna and Peter welcome you to Wishing Well Cottage, one of three charming properties, lovingly and stylishly restored to a very high standard, with plenty of French character. Exposed beams and walls, open fireplaces, and pretty views feature in our tastefully decorated holiday homes. The La Maison de St George cottages are situated in a peaceful village with south facing, sunny gardens. Perfect for a relaxing break, yet close enough to discover the Atlantic beaches, La Rochelle, Cognac, Poitiers and Futuroscope.
On the ground floor, the pretty Wishing Well Cottage boasts a fully equipped modern kitchen/breakfast room with washing machine, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, ironing board and iron. The large lounge/dining room with original fireplace and cosy sofas opens out onto a private garden. TV, VCR, DVD and hi-fi are also provided. The shower room and toilets are also on the ground floor. The first floor features one large family bedroom with one double and one single bed; and a double bedroom, leading through to a twin bedded room - all with pretty views.
La Maison de St George is the ideal place to spend a peaceful holiday – quiet and relaxing. However, if you would rather satisfy your passion to experience a new sensation or enjoy your favourite pastime during your vacation, why not join one of our residential courses or daily classes to improve your guitar skills or maybe to relax with a paint palette. You could even try a little cycling or play a round or two of golf at a beautiful course set within the Cognac vineyards? Or perhaps discover our local world-famous Cognac distilleries and vineyards during your holiday with our special wine tasting tours! We even arrange weekly tours of our local distillery to enable you to taste the Cognac and Pineau des Charente produced in this region!

For larger groups wishing to arrange a friends get-together, family reunion, a special celebration, corporate activities or small conferences – the La Maison de St George complex can accommodate a maximum of 17 persons at any one time. St Jean d'Angely / Aulnay de Saintonge area
The Romanesque town of Aulnay-de-Saintonge is only 5 minutes drive away, with all amenities including a market, bakeries, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, cafes, banks, seasonal open-air swimming pool and historic church. The Atlantic Coast, La Rochelle and Poitiers are all within one hour’s drive, with Cognac and the distilleries even closer!
Special weekly wine tasting visits are arranged at the local distillery. This enables all our guests to savour the Cognac, Pineau des Charentes and wines of the region.
How to get there
Location: La Maison de St George is situated within 5 minutes drive east of Aulnay-de-Saintonge, in the Charente-Maritime department (17) of Poitou-Charentes.
Travel: BY ROAD From Channel Ports to our region via the A28 Rouen and Tours route and A10 motorway to St Jean d’Angèly at exit junction 34. From Paris leading to Bordeaux via Poitiers the A10 motorway and exit at junction 34 for St Jean d’Angèly. The approximate driving time from Calais is 7 hours and from St Malo 3 – 4 hours.

Further details indoors: Heating: The cottage has log fire in lounge/dining room, log burner in kitchen/breakfast room, with electric convector heating throughout, so perfect for that out of season break.
Rental includes: all bedding, towels and tea towels, heating and electricity. Cot, high chair, baby bath and z-bed available on request in advance. La Maison also provides DVD/video library, CD collection, paperback books, board and garden games! A Welcome Basket or Celebration Hamper can be provided for a small fee.
Further details outdoors: Sun loungers and garden furniture are positioned throughout the landscaped gardens to enable guests to enjoy the peace and quiet, with fruit and nut trees providing canopies for shade. BBQ facilities are available. The cottages are set within a fully walled complex.
