St James, Barbados / Fitts Village area
FITTS VILLAGE in St James derives its name from the man who owned that western tract of land undulating toward the Caribbean Sea: Benjamin Thomas Fitt.
Just a 30 minute drive from the airport you will find clear blue waters of this fishing village. During your stay at Becky's by the Sea, you can become a part of this community as they go about their daily activities or you can just sit back relax and watch. Fitts Village is so centrally located that hiring a car is not a necessary, public transportant is readly available.
The area contains several reefs and with clear blue waters its good for snorkeling. Occasionally you may even spot a turtle surfacing for a breath of air. There are also areas along this coast that are excellent for swimming. This is typically a quiet beach, and is the ideal spot to relax with a good book under the shade, or enjoying the sea and sun. Picnic benches are scattered among the Casuarina trees lining the shore, and to the north is a small, open esplanade complete with benches. You can enjoy all sorts of water sports and horseback riding on the beach.
Fitts Village is a community that can meet all of your needs, with a large supermarket, a great Italina restaurant lots of rum shops and eateries. It is just a twenty minute bus ride from Ssunset Crest where you will find the postoffice, DVD rental, banks, restaurants from fast food to fine cusines. You can also do your duty free shopping.
And if you need to do business, the Jordan Complex may just be the place for you with its varied commercial services, doctorıs office, pharmacy and extended supermarket.
