The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall is famed for its warm climate and glorious beaches. It is the perfect place to come and unwind by the sea. Situated on the South Western tip of the UK, Cornwall benefits from the warming Gulf Stream Current, which makes for excellent conditions for water sports.
As well as glorious award-winning beaches the interior of Cornwall has a lot to offer with miles of rolling countryside to explore and excellent attractions such as the Eden Project to keep you busy.
From Hayle you have the choice of visiting the rugged North Coast or the softer South Coast. There are many villages set into the valleys of the North Coast with some having their own picturesque harbours such as Portreath.
On the South Coast one of the main features is St Michael's Mount situated in the sweeping expanse of Mounts Bay. On the other side of the bay is the market town of Penzance and 2 miles further west is the well known and extensive fishing port of Newlyn. Moving westwards both coasts eventually meet up at Land's End.
The St Ives / Hayle area
Hayle is famed for its three miles of golden sandy beaches and is an excellent place to come and relax. If you are interested in surfing of all types Hayle has excellent facilities nearby to cater for both the novice and expert surfer. Hayle is in the crescent of St Ives Bay. The Bay starts at St Ives and eases its way around to Godrevy Lighthouse with the villages of Carbis Bay, Lelant and Gwithian located around its edge.
The Towans, Cornish for sand dunes, stand proud for all to see and are a rich source of wildlife and offer enjoyable coastal walks and fun for all the family.
This great beach offers scope for everyone from surfers to sunbathers, The beach is excellent for swimming, with shallow pools for younger children to paddle in and is patrolled by lifeguards during the summer months, a secluded spot is always just minutes away. Godrevy Lighthouse, no longer staffed, stands on a small island offshore and provided the inspiration for the novelist Virginia Woolf in her novel 'To the Lighthouse'.
The Hayle estuary stretches from Copperhouse to Lelant Saltings, providing a haven and an invaluable feeding ground for many types of migratory birds each year including some rare species.

Me and my partner decided we wanted to holiday in the Cornwall region this year and we were rewarded for that decision. Bluebell Cottage is a fantastic holiday cottage in a great location. The owners Bob and Pauline are absolutely great, providing a warm welcome and all the information you need for your stay, plus a few extra little goodies on arrival!!! Hayle is a lovely holiday town and within easy reach of all the main attractions Cornwall has to offer. The holiday park which Bluebell Cottage is situated on is good and has much to entertain children with at no extra cost. All in all we had a great time and it is highly likely we will return to Bluebell Cottage again in the future. Our eldest wanted us to re-book before we left which should tell you all you need to know. |
