Shell Cottage has been renovated this year and provides cosy accommodation with full gas central heating. The new kitchen has all new equipment including washing machine and dishwasher, plus a feature pebble floor. There is a large bathroom with new shower and lots of storage space. The sitting room has a comfy sofa, rattan chairs, and a feature swinging chair hanging from the beams. Bedroom 1 has a king size bed, Bedroom 2 has a pair of 3 foot singles, and Bedroom 3 has a pair of 3 ft bunk beds; all new for this season.

Set just behind the Tate Gallery, Shell Cottage is near enough to Porthmeor Beach (the main surfing beach) to carry your tea tray! With 3 bedrooms and a comfy sitting room, a new kitchen with dining area, it offers everything you need for a happy holiday by the sea. With 3 Blue Star beaches and umpteen galleries and restaurants on the doorstep, you don't even need the car.

The West Country / Cornwall region

The toe of England, Penwith abounds in fabulous beaches and cliff scenery. The historic heritage includes the greatest density of prehistoric sites in Britain, plus World Heritage mining complexes. The waters of the clean clear Atlantic are warmed by the Gulf Stream and attract surfers and wind surfers all year round. The Coast Path is picked up just beside the cottage, as is the historic Coffin Trail, rated Best Seaside Walk in Britain by the Sunday Times. The air is as clean as it gets! Not forgetting the artists' studios, including the Barbara Hepworth Museum and the Leach Pottery, both within walking distance. And the world-famous Tate Gallery, which has regularly changing exhibitions featuring local artists including Patrick Heron and Ben Nicholson. It also has a superb roof top restaurant/cafe with outstanding views over Porthmeor Beach.

St Ives / Downalong area

Historic St Ives has grown from a busy fishing village to a famous art destination with an all year round tourist provision. The sunsets from west facing Porthmeor are an attraction in themselves, and Shell Cottage is close enough to bring your barbecue down to the sands while you wait for the sun to set.

There is a bench outside the kitchen which catches the morning sun, so it's ideal for morning coffee, and although you can't see the sea from the first floor roof terrace, you can hear it! The little Mediterranean-style terrace has a pair of armchairs and coffee table, plus a palm tree in a pot!

Further details

Changeovers are Friday to Friday and we welcome families and single sex parties too. A single well-behaved dog is welcome subject to a charge of £30. We take bookings on a 25% deposit, with the balance paid within a month of your arrival.

Conditions

Short term (2 to 3 night) bookings welcome all year round, subject to availability, at 60% of the weekly charge.
