The West Country region

Zennor is a small hamlet famous for its legend of The Mermaid of Zennor with a carved bench-end depicting the mermaid in St. Senara's Church. The remainder of the village consists of The Tinner's Arms, The Wayside Folk Museum with working mill and a few cottages and farms, surrounded by fields with cows supplying the milk for the Moomaid of Zennor Ice Cream. A mile east of the village is the Zennor Quoit megalithic site. D. H. Lawrence lived for a time in a cottage close by, the Minack Theatre is any easy drive away also Penzance, Sennen Cove. Lands End and The Gurnard's Head, a dining Pub. The dramatic coastline has inspired artists and it is a walkers paradise.

St Ives

St. Ives is approximately five miles to the north with sandy beaches comprising Porthmeor for surfing, Porthgwidden a small sandy cove, Harbour beach still a working port and sheltered Porthminster beach with half a mile of golden sands and the famous Porthminster Cafe. The Tate Gallery, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Leach Pottery are musts to visit.
