House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 7
Tucked away in exclusive 'Fernhill', it's hard to catch your breath when you enter the open-plan living area of this stunning architect-designed house. Built in reverse-level to maximise the views, this really is an indulgent place to relax and admire the panorama whatever the time of year. Fully equipped and great for entertaining, the living area is extended further in summer when the covered balcony and enclosed garden are a real bonus!
The 32' wide open plan living area comprises a lounge, dining room, study area and a George Robinson bespoke kitchen, one entire glass wall faces the sea and leads to a full width covered balcony.
Two large sofas seat 7 in comfort where you can take in the superb views. Extra touches like wireless internet, a large LCD TV, SKY +, and a CD/MP3 player with Ipod dock, together with a Nintendo Wii and a cosy gas fired "wood burner" make this a great setting for a memorable holiday.
The dining area accommodates a table seating eight and is ideally located near to the kitchen. Enjoy eating outdoors during the summer months, on the balcony with table and chairs accommodating eight. Alternatively a barbecue is provided for you to enjoy eating al fresco in the garden. If you choose to eat in and do not wish to cook, some of the local restaurants provide a take away service, or why not order a delivery from Gourmet food providers Banquet in a Box . You are spoilt for choice with the number of quality restaurants nearby such as La Casita and Becks Fish and Chip restaurant. Alternatively you may wish to sample the culinary delights of the local fine dining in St Ives at the Porthminster or Seafood Café. Travel further afield to Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant in Watergate Bay, or one of Rick Stein's eateries in Padstow. Do remember to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Also benefiting from the stunning views is the study area which is the perfect place to set up you laptop and work away from home if you have to.
This beautifully-crafted, bespoke kitchen by George Robinson is built in ash with granite surfaces and makes cooking at Fernhill Lodge a pleasure. Why else would Fernhill Lodge have starred in 25 Beautiful Kitchens magazine? There is an American fridge-freezer with ice maker, NEFF built in dishwasher, microwave, hob, oven and separate grill. In addition is an "island" with a breakfast bar and stools. All the usual appliances are provided as you would expect from five star accommodation. Laundry facilities are all housed in a separate utility room on the ground floor with washer/dryer and sink. The covered balcony and table and chairs seating 8 are easily accessed from the kitchen for alfresco dining with a spectacular view.

The picture windows and patio doors create a light and airy living area which leads out to a spectacular covered balcony which is a fantastic private space for alfresco dining and just enjoying the panoramic outlook. You can enjoy use of the balcony late into the evening when exterior lighting of Fernhill Lodge causes this luxury self catering accommodation to be seen to "glow" on the hillside at night.
Although completely safe, we do recommend that all children are accompanied at all times. The balcony is directly above the sub-tropical garden and sun-terrace, which also has a discreet storage area with boogie boards, buckets, spades and beach games for both children and adults alike! Fernhill Lodge has up to three car parking spaces behind its private gated drive.
The garden has been recently landscaped to incorporate a large lawned area with eight seater hot tub, sun loungers and a large paved area for entertaining. Enjoy lazy barbecues on long summer evenings or challenge your fellow-guests to a game of boule on the lawn. There is plentiful outdoor seating for you to enjoy the panoramic views across and around St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. The sun loungers and table and chairs to seat 8 are perfectly placed to benefit from the sunshine, ideal for an escape from city-life, gatherings of friends or families or time out to gain some inspiration for writing and sketching. St Ives is close by and is brimming with art galleries including the Tate and the Hepworth. Writers such as Daphne du Maurier, Rosamunde Pilcher and John Betjeman made Cornwall their home and drew deeply from their surroundings to write truly inspiring pieces of literature.
The family bathroom is fitted with Italian stone tiling and has a bath with overhead power shower, w.c, wash basin, bidet and heated towel rail. It also has an electric shaver point.
The en-suite to the Master Bedroom of Fernhill is appointed to a high standard and comprises a hand basin, WC, heated towel rail and a large shower. The West Country region
With its golden sands and turquoise sea, Carbis Bay is recognised as one of the most beautiful bays in the world. It is often selected as the perfect base for those wanting to relax and get away from it all but have the convenience of being just minutes away from the hustle and bustle of St. Ives. With its Blue Flag accredited beach, Carbis Bay is a popular choice for a luxury self-catering holiday with many of our special escapes boasting dramatic sea views. The coastal railway links St Ives to Penzance and is perhaps one of the most scenic rail journeys in the UK. The rail journey from Carbis Bay to St Ives takes about 4 minutes. It also connects to St Erth and Penzance to mainline UK stations including Paddington, London.
Fernhill Lodge sits on land that once belonged to Doctor Rice who had a doctors surgery and dispensary nearby. Then, as well as now Fernhill was approached along a wooded lane off St. Ives Road, that opens to glorious views of the valley which, now peaceful, once echoed with the sound of intense mining. Access to the beach is a lovely walk through the beautiful Carbis Valley and a supermarket is located nearby.
