The West Country region
West Cornwall is described as having a 'micro-climate'. Very often having much more sunshine than the rest of the UK and a much warmer climate.
Cornwall is steeped in history and riddled with ancient tin mine workings and fishing harbours. It has miles of breathtaking coastal walks and stunning award winning sandy beaches and huge areas of open countryside together with many National Trust properties and gardens and the world renowned Eden Project.
St Ives has a wealth of restaurants and cafes, art galleries (including The Tate) and shops. The local beaches provide both safe bathing areas and world class surfing, and there is an indoor swimming pool, cinema and local St Ives youth theatre Kidz R Us.
There are many attractions nearby, including Paradise Park in Hayle (perfect for the younger family members), go-karting, golf, horse riding and Flambards in Helston and the unmissable experience of visiting the open air Minack Theatre at Porthcurnow. September brings the St Ives Festival of music and art - a wealth of activities enjoyed by hundreds of visitors and locals alike.
