Possibly the best location in town!
3a Sea View Place is a beautiful 'upside down' apartment. The top 2 floors of a fishermans cottage in the heart of 'Downlong' - the old fishing quarters of St Ives. Overlooking a sandy beach with azure water you can go for an early morning dip if you desire! The apartment is reached up a flight of granite steps which takes you to the front door - once inside you will see 'Great Western Railway' pictures of old St Ives as you climb the stairs also original pictures by local Cornish and Welsh artists.
This is the best located accommodation you will find - overlooking lovely sandy beach known as 'Bamaluz' below your window with the lighthouse that inspired Virginia Woolfe's novel 'To The Lighthouse' - flashing in the distance.
Your lovely double bedroom is located at the top of the stairs and the first thing you will notice is the magnificant view over St Ives Bay. With a Laura Ashley cream and brass bed with very comfortable pocket sprung mattress, antique French crystal wall lights, chandelier, feather duvet and pillows, crisp linen sheets, cotton bedding and a flat screen tv with DVD player, you will know instantly you have choosen the right place to stay! Lie in bed and listen to the ocean outside your window!
On the landing you will find a large book case with all sorts of maps and books to help you plan your visit. We have also left an interesting range of local interest books alongside art books and novels to get stuck into!
The 'beachy' bathroom is located across the hall way which has a shower over the bath and a large heated towel rail - there is an LED mirror with a built in shaver socket.
Up to the next floor is an open plan kitchen/dining area and living room - again with tasteful decor and paintings by local artists.
A galley style kitchen with a mix of Alessi, Cath Kidston and Nigella Lawson accessories, belfast sink, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine - dining table with french ceramic hanging lamp over. A Laura Ashley leather sofa is in the living area (which folds out as a bed settee) along with a flat screen tv and a big beanbag to relax on. Wi-fi is available. There is also an ipod docking station with iphone charger and DAB radio. You will find a variety of games for you to play in case you want to have a night in! The views are magnificant from up here and you can see over the Bay and over to the Harbour.
Please note that towels are not provided - please bring your own - thank you. (Tea towels and bath mats are provided). If an extra person is going to use the bed settee you will need to bring your own bedding - please inform me if you are going to do this as there is a small extra charge for a third person.
In case you need to overspill - other properties in the close proximity that are also advertised on Holiday Lettings are: Black Moon (next door but one in the same terrace) Leo's Cottage (over the road), The Old Salt Lodge (2 minutes walk).
COMING FOR SPRING/SUMMER 2015 - 3 Sea View Place will also be available June/July/Aug/Sept 2015 - Beautiful 3 storey cottage underneath 3a Sea View Place - Large kitchen/diner/living room with full glass door balustrade overlooking Bamaluz Beach, double bedroom with sea views and en suite (jet bath and monsoon shower) - and our 'secret room' which is located through a trap door in the lounge with a day bed (which can either be a single or a double) and en suite shower room. The West Country region
A large part the land here was once an island, and even though nowadays joined to the mainland, a feeling of individuality remains. Heathland covers the granite outcrops and the area is scattered with remnants of an incredibly ancient heritage. As you slip off the edge of the map into rocky gorges where tiny fishing villages face a wild ocean it’s as if you have slipped off the edge of time where Cornwall reveals its most individual and captivating side.
You'll find: smugglers' coves, show stopping beaches, historic mining settlements, surf spots, boat trips, harbour towns, dramatic coastal scenery, The Minack Theatre, St. Michael's Mount, and The Lizard.
St Ives is a seemingly subtropical oasis where the beaches are golden, the vegetation lush and the light piercingly bright. It’s no wonder then that the town has been attracting artists for decades who come to capture the area’s undeniable natural beauty. It started with J.M.W. Turner and the marine artist Henry Moore who first came to St Ives in the mid-1800s and since then the town has become a magnet for some of the world’s greatest painters, sculptors and ceramists.
St Ives’s arty connections are reflected in the numerous galleries (including the Tate) and exhibitions dotted around the town and combine that with a great surfing beach, plenty of pavement cafes, ancient pubs, top notch eateries and a fascinating working harbour, St Ives is deservedly one of Cornwall’s top destinations.
Downalong is in the heart of St Ives - it is the old Fishing quarter and there is still plenty of activity on the quay side today! Seals bob up and down regulary when the boats come in and you can even hand feed them with the fisherman's catch!

From the moment we discovered this apartment on the Trip Advisor the whole booking was dealt with quickly and efficiently by Grace the owner.
The apartment is located directly overlooking the beach just off the main harbour but it was really quiet and peaceful throughout our stay. Grace organised a parking permit for us and the car park was only a 2 to 3 minute walk way but you could unload and load up your car outside the property with the minimum of fuss.
The accommodation is well thought out inside with an open plan kitchen/lounge area and equipped with a dishwasher, full cooker, microwave and even a washing machine and is on the top floor with fabulous views of the ocean from the rear window or the narrow streets from the front window. The bedroom is located below and overlooks the beach so as the tide came in at night all you could hear was the waves lapping and the odd seagull. The owners live in the accommodation below and are there if you need them but otherwise they don't intrude on your stay. There are nice little touches such as beach blankets and beach stools provided plus board games and even a picnic cool box.
St Ives itself has some very good restaurants to suit all budgets and cobbled streets with a variety of shops and galleries. The surrounding area has a lot to offer from beautiful coastal walks, to national trust properties and other quaint seaside locations within easy driving distance.
You will not be disappointed if you fancy a busy or relaxing time away the choice is yours.
