Admiral Cottage
About the home
Admiral Cottage is a lovely property, right in the centre of St Ives but tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. It has panoramic views of the harbour, pier and island from both the garden, lounge windows and attic studio bedroom. The cottage is light, airey and has been recently renovated to a very high standard. The cottage is perfect for small families and couples and is fully equipped as a self-catering holiday home.
You enter the property through a stable door which leads to the two double bedrooms situated on the ground floor. One has a double bed, the other, bunkbeds. The two rooms are separated by a fold away door (perfect if you have small children). There is also a WC on the ground floor and utility room (situated to the rear of the property).
The living /dining space is on the middle floor to make the most of the harbour views. The kitchen and lounge are open plan.
The final bedroom is in the attic, offering maginificent views of much of St Ives. The bedroom offers the perfect balance of waking up to panoramic views but from a very secluded space.
There is always something going on to catch the eye, fishing boats landing their catch or children playing on the sand.
The house is tucked away behind the main street with award winning restaurants just a few hundred metres away. The nearest beach is 1 minute from the door and the cottage is also ideal for art lovers who want to browse the many galleries in the town or just anyone who wants to stop and relax.
WiFi is available and we supply books, dvd's and beach toys so there is something for everyone.
The cottage is a quiet haven even in the hustle and bustle of August, and the view is featured on a postcard sold by the Tate taken by a photographer from the 1950's .

Further details indoors:
The cottage is owned by an architect who has designed the house with an open plan feel, not only to make the most of the panoramic views, but also to allow as much light into the property as possible. The cottage is decorated with a beach, minimalist theme so as not to distract from the harbour views.
The stable front door leads onto a hallway with travertine stone floor tiles. The ground floor has two double bedrooms and a cloakroom.
The first bedroom has a double bed, fitted wardrobe, antique pine dressing table and chest of drawers. While the other bedroom has bunk beds, wardrobe chest of drawers and freestanding easel mirror. The cloakroom has a WC.
Behind the house there is a 'Cornish' courtyard and a utility room for washing and drying.
On the first floor is the lounge, kitchen and bathroom. The lounge has a family table and comfy leather sofas, so you can prepare meals, dine and just sit watching the changing land and seascape.
The top floor has a large double bedroom with the amazing sea views. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

The West Country / Cornwall region
The area is noted for its wild moorland landscapes, its extensive and varied coastline, its many place names derived from the Cornish language, and its very mild climate. Since the 19th century, Cornwall, with its unspoilt maritime scenery and strong light, has beautiful and a vibrant art scenario of international renown. Artistic activity within Cornwall used to be the centred on the art-colony of Newlyn, most active at the turn of the 20th century. The climate is warm and sunny, with breathtaking coastal walks, golf links rugby and male voice choirs. There is a love of organic fresh food and the area has some super restaurants and guest houses. There are old Tin Mines to see, stunning gardens, surfing lessons to be had and some cookery classes care of Rick Stein. St Ives is a particular gem, with a huge choice of Art and Crafts, wonderful food and stunning beaches. The town has something for everyone.
The St Ives area
St Ives is well known as a popular holiday destination, famous for its beautiful beaches, excellent surfing and many art galleries. St Ives has a September Festival. The St Ives September Festival is one of the longest running and widest ranging Festivals of the Arts in the UK. The duration of the festival goes about 15 days and includes a range of arts from Music (including Folk, Jazz, Rock, Classical & World) to Poetry, Film, Talks and Books. It was founded in 1978 as a joint venture by a group of local entrepreneurs and the nearby International Musicians Seminar. There is a May day celebration like no other, which culminates in dancing around the Knill Monument. The fun stuff is the surfing, the beaches, the wonderful array of arts to buy and that unique quality of light that drew artists to the town in the first place.
