A recently refurbished bungalow situated on a small private drive just above the town and close to the Tate Modern. It has sea views across Carbis Bay and is only a short walk to the town and beaches. It is comfortable and cosy, with 2 double rooms and a room with bunk beds, and is the perfect place to come back to after a day out in St Ives or the surrounding area.

St Ives is stunning with beautiful beaches and surroundings. It houses the Tate Modern, come and see some beautiful art - and the Barbara Hepworth museum as well. There is a wealth of local galleries in the maze of streets by the quayside. Not forgetting the famous St Ives pottery - with showrooms and workshop. There also are plenty of local sports with a great indoor pool within walking distance for rainy days. There are local horse riding schools and we are very close to the famous coastal path.

The West Country / Cornwall region

Cornwall is a stunning place with dramatic scenery, stunning coastline and lots of sunshine. Perfect for sports and such as climbing and surfing, and for those of you who like the cultural side of things, Cornwall is steeped in history, myth and legend - its people and heritage - who used to have their own autonomous region and language and King! They are friendly and welcoming these days!

Cornwall is lucky enough to have some of the best scenery in the country - the most beautiful coastline with sandy beaches, dotted with fishing villages. It boasts some of the best restaurants in the country - if eating out isn't your thing, why not try a Cornish pasty? There is a wealth of sports to do - in and out of the water from climbing to surfing. Come and see for yourself the best region of the whole of England!

St Ives / Carnello area

St Ives is a stunning place, with beautiful beaches and surroundings. It houses the Tate Modern, come and see some beautiful art - and the Barbara Hepworth museum as well. There is a wealth of local galleries showing some beautiful stuff in the maze of streets by the quayside. Not forgetting the famous St Ives pottery - with showrooms and workshops. The famous Bernard Leach Pottery showroom and gallery will be open by summer 2007. There also are plenty of sports to do.

How to get there

Road: Take the M5 from Bristol then leave the motorway on the A30 West. Take the A30 all the way to the St Ives turn off. Head for St. Ives… you go through a few villages on the way then you will turn right into the town (towards the railway station) go down the hill with shops either side of you into the centre of St. Ives… at the bottom of the hill there is a sharp left turn (at the library) called Gabriel Street – take this turn then you come to a roundabout. Go right at the roundabout into Bullan’s Lane, continue up to the T-junction then turn left along Alexandra Road. When Alexandra road curves around to the left you go sharp right along a bumpy private road called Carnello, just after a big guest house called Stoneycroft. Avoca Cottage is the second on the right. If you miss all this and manage to find your way through town and outside the Tate, then continue on up the hill for a 1/2 mile and stop as soon as you see the SPAR shop. Behind you, as the road bends to the left, will be Carnello.

Rail: West Coast mainline runs direct to St Erth, there you can change onto the delightful coastal line for the brief trip into St Ives.

Air: Avoid the traffic queues and fly budget airline to Newquay - from their ether taxi or hire a car for the remaining leg to St Ives
