| Nearest Travel Links | |
| Airport: | Newquay: 60 km |
| Railway: | St Ives/St Erth: 1.3 km |
| Ferry: | Plymouth: 122 km |
Road: Take the M5 from Bristol then leave the motorway on the A30 West and Bodmin. Take the A30 all the way to the St Ives turn off.
Now you can come in the back way following the Tate Gallery Brown signs. As you come into the town and past the houses you'll be directed to turn left on a mini roundabout. Continue along here over the speed bumps, when you pass the SPAR shop on your right, carry on for about 200m till the road bends right. Here you go straight on up a private lane, Carnello which lies in between Stoneycroft and The Barn Apartments.
For the scenic route, head into St. Ives and Carbis Bay. You will eventually turn right into the town (towards the railway station) and go down a hill with shops either side of you into the centre of St. Ives. At the bottom of the hill there is a sharp left turn (at the library) called Gabriel Street – take this turn then you come to a roundabout. Go right at the roundabout into Bullan’s Lane, continue up to the T-junction then turn left along Alexandra Road. When Alexandra road curves around sharply to the left, you go sharp right along a small private drive called Carnello, just after a big guest house called Stoneycroft. Avoca Cottage is the second on the right - you enter through the back door. If you miss all this and manage to find your way through town and outside the Tate, then continue on up the steep hill for a 1/2 mile and stop as soon as you see the SPAR shop. Behind you, as the road bends to the righ, down the hill, will be Carnello.
Rail: West Coast mainline runs direct to St Erth, there you can change onto the delightful coastal line for the brief trip into St Ives.
Air: Avoid the traffic queues and fly budget airline to Newquay - from their ether taxi or hire a car for the remaining leg to St Ives
